SALUTE TO SENIORS!

We are so proud of the Class of 2022 as they arrive for their last day at BCA tomorrow! We have been celebrating them individually on our Facebook and Instagram pages all week, but it’s nice to look at them as a group. These ten students have been resilient and impressive young women and men inside these halls, and while we will miss them all, we are excited to see them start new chapters in their lives as well. Thanks to John, Luke, Alyssa, Everett, Jack, Katie, Lissette, Kaila, Caleb and Tyler for your contributions to Barrington Christian Academy!

SCIENCE FAIR TAKES OVER ON MAY 27th

The middle schoolers (and some high schoolers) are finishing up their Science Fair presentations in the Library on Friday, May 27th. Students will present their projects to the other students all day, answering questions and interacting with the audience.

Nurse's Desk Update

COVID-19 Updates
There have been five new cases of COVID-19 since last week's communicator was sent out. Students in Scouts, Trailblazers, Voyagers, and grade 12 are strongly encouraged to monitor for symptoms.

As you may know, four out of five counties in RI that were “high” are now considered "medium" transmission. The recent rise in cases has also led to outbreaks/clusters in schools throughout the state. A cluster is generally defined as 3 or more cases in a classroom within a 14 day period. Because of this, the Playbook is expected to be updated tomorrow and we will send out communications if there are official changes to protocols. In general, we ask that you please test your child anytime they have a symptom and communicate results before sending them to school. This will help prevent other students from having to isolate due to protocols and have to miss out on end-of-year events.

Here are current protocols.
Please let me know if you would like a test kit sent home.

Scoliosis Screening Results
MS students have been screened for scoliosis and students who were referred to their pediatrician for further evaluation will receive a letter in the mail. Please let me know if you have any questions about your child's screening.

Parent Guidelines for Helping Youth after the Recent Shooting

In this 3-page tip sheet released shortly after a shooting, the NCTSN describes how such an event may affect children and teens as well as parents and other caregivers. The tip sheet lists reactions common among people of all ages, offers coping tips for caregivers, and suggests ways for caregivers to support children and youth in talking about and managing their reactions.

Talking to Children about the Recent School Shooting

In this tip sheet, the NCTSN (National Child Traumatic Stress Network) provides suggestions to parents and other caregivers for talking with their children in ways that help them to make sense of and cope with their reactions to a shooting.
