All Saints welcomes all people, without exception. We know that Christ is present in each person here, and we celebrate the diversity of the body of Christ. If this is your first visit, please introduce yourself today, and please visit again sometime. If you’ve been away, welcome back. We worship in the Anglican tradition, and are a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. We honor individuals of every age, gender, ethnic heritage, sexual orientation, and religious background. We respect the dignity of every human being.

Land Acknowledgement
For thousands of years, First Nations people walked on this land in Danvers; their relationship with the land is at the center of their lives and spirituality. All Saints is gathered on the traditional territory of the Naumkeag, and we give thanks to them, and acknowledge their stewardship of this land throughout the ages. They followed the seasons, hunted, fished, raised families, grieved for their dead, nourished their living, shared the stories of their ancestors, and considered themselves the caretakers of this place.

Collect for Purity
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit; that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Gloria S278

Opening Collect
God be with you
And also with you.

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Collect for Veterans Day
Almighty God, ignite, we pray, in every heart during this Memorial Day Weekend, the true love of peace. Guide with your wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth, that in tranquility, your dominion may increase until the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love. Help us to honor and remember all those who have gone before us in valor and in hope for a peace-filled world. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Acts 16:16-34
With Paul and Silas, we came to Philippi in Macedonia, a Roman colony, and, as we were going to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners a great deal of money by fortune-telling. While she followed Paul and us, she would cry out, "These men are slaves of the Most High God, who proclaim to you a way of salvation." She kept doing this for many days. But Paul, very much annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I order you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And it came out that very hour. But when her owners saw that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the authorities. When they had brought them before the magistrates, they said, "These men are disturbing our city; they are Jews and are advocating customs that are not lawful for us as Romans to adopt or observe." The crowd joined in attacking them, and the magistrates had them stripped of their clothing and ordered them to be beaten with rods. After they had given them a severe flogging, they threw them into prison and ordered the jailer to keep them securely. Following these instructions, he put them in the innermost cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was an earthquake, so violent that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened. When the jailer woke up and saw the prison doors wide open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, since he supposed that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted in a loud voice, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here." The jailer called for lights, and rushing in, he fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them outside and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They answered, "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." They spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. At the same hour of the night he took them and washed their wounds; then he and his entire family were baptized without delay. He brought them up into the house and set food before them; and he and his entire household rejoiced that he had become a believer in God.

Pause to reflect on reading.

Psalm 97 (please read together the bolded lines)

The Lord is King;
let the earth rejoice;
let the multitude of the isles be glad.

Clouds and darkness are round about him,
righteousness and justice are the foundations of his throne.

A fire goes before him
and burns up his enemies on every side.

His lightnings light up the world;
the earth sees it and is afraid.

The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens declare his righteousness,
and all the peoples see his glory.

Confounded be all who worship carved images
and delight in false gods!
Bow down before him, all you gods.

Zion hears and is glad, and the cities of Judah rejoice,
because of your judgments, O Lord.

For you are the Lord,
most high over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.

The Lord loves those who hate evil;
he preserves the lives of his saints
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

Light has sprung up for the righteous,
and joyful gladness for those who are truehearted.

Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy Name.

Revelation 22:12-14,16-17,20-21
At the end of the visions I, John, heard these words: "See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone's work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. "It is I, Jesus, who sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let everyone who hears say, "Come." And let everyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift. The one who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.

The Gospel                                                                                                  John 17:20-26
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to John.
Glory to you, Lord Christ.

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. “Righteous One, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Christ.

Homily                                                                                  The Rev. Marya DeCarlen

The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of the People                                                                               Erika Bianchi
O God, with faces touched by the light of a new day, and hearts warmed by our prayers and praises, we come before you to pray for the needs of our world.

Into the light of Easter season, we offer prayers for our Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, and for all bishops, priests, seminarians and deacons, including Alan, Gayle, Marya, Brett and Jim. In our Diocesan cycle of prayer, we pray for the Parishes of the Merrimack Valley Deanery: St. Andrew’s Church, Methuen; St. Paul’s Church, Newburyport; St. Paul’s Church, North Andover; Merrimack Valley Project; and Deacons. In our Anglican cycle of prayer, we pray for the Church of South India (United).
May the light of Christ shine upon them.

Into the light of Easter season, we raise those who are struggling with illness, with despair over their lives, or with the breakdown of relationships. Give to the sick your healing, and to the suffering your hope, especially Joe Maher, Greg Hanson, Paula and Sam Noyes, Sean Grogan, Ginny Johnson, Bruce Murden, Mary Ellen Murphy, Andrew B., Cathy Doyle, Dean Carter, Mary Carney, Mark and Barbara Winkler, Rebecca Hill Larsen, Don McAllister, Judy Donovan, Jody Saulnieux, Priscilla Quealy, Dean Carter, Ina Jean Wagner, Helen Clarkson, Bob Clarkson, Karen Graves, Sharon Germano and Scott Sheil-Brown. Are there others? May your steadfast love support all who call upon you.
May the light of Christ shine upon them.

Into the light of Easter season, we bring those places in our world where war, violence, poverty and need are the experiences of everyday life. Today we especially pray for those 19 children and 2 adults who lost their lives in a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. We also hold in our hearts the pain of those suffering violence, bereavement or conflict. We pray for those experiencing distress and hopelessness in war-torn countries. May the light of Christ shine upon them.
May the light of Christ shine upon them.

Into the light of Easter season, we bring our thanksgivings for those celebrating birthdays, especially Faith Symmes, Fran Weil, Elizabeth Losa, Jonathon Lee, Bruce Murden and Charlotte Lee. Are there others for whom you would like to offer thanksgivings? May the light of Christ shine upon us.
May the light of Christ shine upon us.

Into the light of Easter season, we pray for all who come to the “halls” of All Saints seeking healing from addiction. Look with compassion on all who have lost their health and freedom. Restore the assurance of your unending love and unfailing mercy; remove the fears that disable; strengthen the work of recovery; and to those who care for those suffering from addiction, give patient understanding and persevering love. May the light of Christ shine upon us.
May the light of Christ shine upon us.

Into the light of Easter season, we pray for all who have died in the communion of your Church, and those whose faith is known to you alone, that, with all the saints, they may have rest in that place where there is no pain or grief, but life eternal, we pray to you, O Lord. Are there others whom you would like to add? May the light of Christ shine upon us.
May the light of Christ shine upon us.

And into the light of Easter season, we bring ourselves, the private struggles, the heart’s yearnings, the hidden dreams, the unfulfilled potential. May the light of Christ shine upon us.
May the light of Christ shine upon us. AMEN

Confession
Almighty God, you love us, but we have not loved you; you call, but we have not listened. We walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped up in our own concerns. We have gone along with evil,  with pride, quarreling, and divisiveness. Holy God, help us to face up to ourselves, so that, as you move toward us in mercy, we may repent, turn to you, and receive mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen..—PCUSA

Absolution
Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins, through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen.

Offertory Sentences
Almighty God, giver of every good and perfect gift, teach us to give to you all that we have and all that we are. Put together as one congregation in three locations, bless our gifts!

Offertory Anthem
Please use this time for reflection about how to give gifts of love to your neighbors and your community.

Doxology
The Sanctuary Lamp burns in honor of the Blessed Sacrament, and in celebration of the anniversary of Heather and Eric Slack, given by Carol Bouffard. The altar flowers are given to the glory of God, and in memory of our deceased veterans.

Eucharistic Prayer and Agape Meal Prayer
(Agape is the Greek word for love, and it was a love feast of the early Christians. This meal is another way of living out Jesuscommandment to love one another. We give thanks for the invitation to be at our tables, for here we are shown our lives.)

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to God,
It is right to give God thanks and praise.

God of all power, Ruler of the Universe, you are worthy of glory and praise.
Glory to you for ever and ever.

At your command all things came to be: the vast expanse of interstellar space, galaxies, suns, the planets in their courses, and this fragile earth, our island home.
By your will they were created and have their being.

From the primal elements you brought forth the human race, and blessed us with memory, reason, and skill. You made us the rulers of creation. But we turned against you, and betrayed your trust; and we turned against one another.
Have mercy, Lord, for we are sinners in your sight.

Again and again, you called us to return. Through prophets and sages you revealed your righteous Law. And in the fullness of time you sent your only Son, born of a woman, to fulfill your law, to open for us the way of freedom and peace.
By his blood, he reconciled us.
By his wounds, we are healed.

And therefore we praise you, joining with the heavenly chorus, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with all those in every generation who have looked to you in hope, to proclaim with them your glory, in their unending hymn:

Sanctus

We have all come to this place as a church searching to find the way forward; we look for healing through these restorative rituals of old: agape and Eucharist. It is in the Agape Feast and Eucharist, where adversaries become friends, and friends become neighbors. Approach this love feast and Eucharist as an experience of warmth and sharing, where Gods grace can be experienced in the fellowship with one another and with God, as we remember Christs presence on earth and celebrate the spirit of Gods love.

On the night he was betrayed, he took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, gave it to his friends, and said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me." After supper, he took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me." Remembering now his work of redemption, and offering to you this sacrifice of thanksgiving,

Lord God of our Forbearers: God of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, and Jacob, Rachel and Leah; God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ: Open our eyes to see your hand at work in the world about us. Deliver us from the presumption of coming to this table for solace only, and not for strength; for pardon only, and not for renewal. Let the grace of this Holy Communion make us one body, one spirit in Christ, that we may worthily serve the world in his name.

Risen Lord, be known to us in the breaking of the Bread.
Accept these prayers and praises through Jesus Christ our great High Priest, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, your Church gives honor, glory, and worship, from generation to generation.

And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Fraction Anthem S155

Alleluia! Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;
Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia!

This is the table not of the church, but of the Lord. It is to be made ready for those who love God and want to love God more. So come if you have followed, come if you have stumbled, come if you have been here often, or if you have never been here before. Come because it is God who invites you. It is one of Gods purposes, that those who want to find God, will find God here.—Adapted from the Iona Community.

(Now each person is invited to take a portion of food and drink, joining with the entire congregation on three platforms in our love feast.)

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Let us pray: Eternal God, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you, with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Passing of the Peace
Christ is here right now making peace among us.
The peace of the Lord be always with you!
And also with you.

Announcements and Alleluia Prayers for Birthdays, Anniversaries and Travel!

Final Blessing
Go now and walk in the light of God’s glory. Love Christ and keep his word. Do not let your hearts be troubled, but lead others to the waters of life. And may God’s face shine on you with favor; May Christ Jesus mark you out as his own; And may the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth and peace. Amen and Alleluia!
