What's New?

Have you signed up for Summer Camps yet? CMSC has camps for 3+, 4+ and 6+ from July 6 through August 26. Classes range from space exploration, arts and northwest nature, to cooking, camp survival, Pioneer life and more. Most are morning sessions, with a few afternoons and some all-day. Find the brochure with descriptions, and link to online registration, at our Camps & Classes web page.

The Celtic Arts Foundation has announced that they will be presenting the Skagit Valley Highland Games this year as a one-day event on July 9, 2022. Billed as a kind of “Scottish 3-ring circus" with a wide range of activities for young and old alike, the games are part of an annual circuit of Scottish competitions held in the Pacific Northwest and Lower Mainland of British Columbia. The quality of performers in solo bagpiping and drumming competitions, bagpipe bands, fiddling, traditional Scottish athletics (the “heavy” events) and Scottish Highland dancing is at an extremely high level. Learn more on the CAF website.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Chandler for five years at CMSC! Your work with the preschool, coordinating memberships and everything else is appreciated tremendously!

18 Scottish Inventions

With the Skagit Valley Highland Games on the horizon and the Celtic Arts Festival our June Community Access Day sponsor, it's only fitting that we share an article from The Scotsman about 18 Scottish Invensions you didn't know about! Without Scottish inventors, you might still be undergoing surgery without anaesthetic, using smoke signals to communicate or struggling to keep food chilled. Check out the full article in The Scottsman here!

Masked Up Monday Mornings is a weekly session that runs from 10am-12pm. Everyone in the museum will be required to wear a mask, to ensure the safety of visitors, and those who are medically fragile. Children under three, who are not able to mask, will not be able to attend this session. These sessions are made possible by generous support from the Nysether Family Foundation and the Skagit Community Foundation.

Looking Ahead...

June 14 - 10am-3pm - Community Access Day sponsored by Celtic Arts Foundation
