Hello there, beautiful soul!

Hope this message finds you well.

How is your cooldown period doing? Keep recharging those batteries. Just circling in with quick updates of what's happening in and around under the hood.

If you haven't already, would love you to fill in this Fund8 quick survey that helps us inform how has this past F8 been if you haven't had a chance to do so yet.

Looking forward having you back during our Fund9 Launch on June 1 with keynote from Mr. Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IOG.

Let's dive in.

‘Science Fair’ to celebrate F8 SSI related proposal winners

You are kindly invited to join us and have fun collaborating with each other in an interactive and engaging virtual environment!

We’re getting together to celebrate all funded proposals from Accelerate Decentralized Identity and Self-Sovereign Identity challenges as part of Fund8, and to offer an open space for all participants in the ecosystem. Join us and see if your project can make use of Atala PRISM and expand your capabilities with decentralized identity. What’s in there for you:

  • 15 min: Introduction by Tony Rose, Head of Product, Identity
  • 30 min: Speed networking: Explore who else is in the mix, moving the ecosystem forward. Meet people you might not have had a chance to meet before, being randomly paired for 5 minutes during 3 rounds.
  • 1h: Science fair: Each Fund8 winning proposal from Accelerate Decentralized Identity and Self-Sovereign Identity challenges will have the opportunity to do a “poster session” and show a short slide show / demo of their winning proposal.
  • 1h: Marketplace of ideas: Present your idea or discuss others’ ideas in this space. List your topic in this spreadsheet and find collaborators to supplement your ideas, offer solutions to issues you’re facing, or provide answers to your questions. A max of 20 discussions will be catered for.
  • 15 min: Closing circle
  • The rooms will be left open to encourage further collaboration amongst attendees.

Join us and share your ideas for the next round of innovation too. Ask for and get help in thinking through some of the knottiest problems you face in moving your ideas and projects forward. You can also email atala_product@iohk.io with the subject ‘Science Fair’ and they will send you the calendar invite!

Submitting Proposals on Ideascale

The Funded Proposers' Subcircle, who have just been funded in Fund8, are looking at creating some guidance notes for the Ideascale proposal submission form.

The idea is to give simple, clear guidance - aimed mainly at new proposers - to explain exactly what information each question on the form is asking for, and some pointers on how to complete it.

We would love input and ideas from the wider community before this gets incorporated into the process for Fund9.

Please add your thoughts via this online shared document

Catalyst Audit Circle

If you’re a funded proposer in any fund so far (including the newly-funded F8 crew), then Catalyst Audit Circle would love you to complete its Proposers' Survey.

A bit of background: Audit Circle is a F7 proposal looking at possible improvements to how  funded proposals are audited, to maximize each funding round's return on intention. We’re currently preparing to write our final report, and the survey results will be part of that – so we’d really value your input.

The survey closes this Sunday (29th May) at midnight UTC: don’t miss it! Thank you.

dReps

It's time. The first introductory workshop is just around the corner. Reading about dReps for the first time? You can read about it and catch up via this blog post if you are interested.

On Thursday, June 2nd, we will run two workshops across the day, one at 9am UTC and the other at 5pm UTC, and they will both last roughly one hour. The workshops will be recorded, and all materials will be shared for offline reading.

The first workshop will cover what it means to be a dRep, how we have designed Liquid Democracy for Project Catalyst, and the safeguarding parameters in place. It will also go into detail on expectations and incentives. In the next workshop, we will showcase the new registration and voting center, going through more of the technical specifics of delegation - dates will be confirmed in mid-June.

Note: these workshops are open to dRep applicants only but recordings and notes will be made available at large.
