City Communications Veteran Tom Bryson Joins Cooksey as VP, Public Sector Practice Leader

Cooksey welcomes a major new addition to the team with the hiring of Tom Bryson as vice president and head of the agency’s distinguished Public Sector Practice, which serves cities, counties, school districts, colleges and other prominent public sector entities. Tom will draw on nearly four decades of communications experience, including work as a journalist and three decades at the cities of Duncanville and Farmers Branch, Texas, in advising Cooksey’s clients.

Tom is a past president of both the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) and the national City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA), the latter of which recognized him as the national Communicator of the Year in 2016. He serves as a founding member of the Advisory Board of the Certified Public Communicator program at Texas Christian University, where he also serves on the adjunct faculty. TAMIO also recognized Tom as a Cheryl A. Soward Communicator of Distinction in 2020.

Be on the lookout for Tom, along with other Cooksey team members, at the TAMIO Annual Conference later this week in Houston (see below)!

Cooksey Sponsors TCMA and TAMIO Annual Conferences

Throughout our nearly 30-year history, Cooksey has worked with countless Texas cities, schools and other public entities, helping to optimize internal and external communication programs.

Cooksey is gearing up now to attend this week’s Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) Annual Conference and the Texas City Management Association (TCMA) Annual Conference. Through annual industry events like these, Cooksey forges strong relationships with municipal leaders and shares best practices with professional peers – while also learning about cities’ most vexing communications challenges, so we can devise better solutions for those “pain points.”

This year, we are proud to serve as a Platinum sponsor of the 2022 TAMIO Annual Conference and as a Gold sponsor of the 2022 TCMA Annual Conference. In addition to our new Public Sector Practice Leader Tom Bryson (see above), Cooksey CEO Colby Walton and Account Supervisor Allison Chvojan will represent our team at TAMIO. Colby along with President Jason Meyer will be at TCMA.

Drop us a line if you want to be sure and connect at either event – we’d love to hear what’s on your mind. Or catch up with us afterward if you’d like to hear some key
takeaways instead!
