Ascension Sunday

e-bulletin
Acts 1:1-11  •  Ps. 47  •  Eph. 1:15-23  •  Luke 24:44-53

Celebrating the Ascension

The forty days immediately following Jesus' resurrection are marked with stories of wonderous appearances of Christ to his followers. At the conclusion of these "Great Forty Days", the Gospel tells us that Christ ascends into Heaven. This moment in the Jesus Story brings closure to Jesus' earthly ministry, illustrates how we can sometimes struggle with being pulled by both heaven and earth, and it offers us a means by which we can live the Christian vocation with great joy.

This Sunday, we will be celebrating the Ascension of the Lord. As always, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Next week, on Pentecost Sunday, Ophelia (Phe) Kennedy will be baptized at St Barnabas. Please uphold Phe and her family in prayer as they prepare for this significant step of faith.

Please note: The church office will be closed this Tuesday May 31. It will be open again as usual later in the week. Please excuse the inconvenience.

Plant Sale a Big Success!

Thank you everyone who helped make last weekend's plant sale such a success! Organizers, volunteers, shoppers, and curious passers-by all contributed to the event, making it lots of fun for everyone. Not only was the day lots of fun, it also raised some funds. Over $3,000 was raised for St. Barnabas and PWRDF's Ukraine relief efforts. Congratulations everyone!

Shop in the Shed Returns

This weekend the Shop in the Shed is hosting a grand re-opening with free coffee and cookies. Various items will be for sale, including baked goods in support of St. Barnabas.

Please drop by at 26 Rutherford Ave. on Saturday May 28 9:00 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Deep River Welcome

St. Barnabas is now receiving donations for the Deep River Welcome refugee sponsorship initiative. A goal of $50,000.00 has been set for the project. Once the funds have been raised, the group can begin the process of selecting a family and preparing for them to join us in the Deep River community.

So far, Deep River welcome has raised $23,556 toward this initiative. That is approximately 47% of the $50,000 goal. Way to go folks!

Donations can be made payable to St. Barnabas by cheque, cash, or electronically. Please be sure to mark your donation for "Deep River Welcome".

Looking for PowerPoint People

There is a need to run the PowerPoint slides during the Sunday morning church services. We currently have four people committed to this duty but it would be nice to have at least one more. Full training is provided, there is a documented procedure to follow, and the job can be done from your pew.  Please contact Kimberley in the church office if you are interested. Thank you!
