Hi there!

These are difficult days for the global economy, and cryptocurrencies are one of the hardest-hit sectors. We spoke to DeFi specialist Camila Russo about this topic ("those who suffer the most are those who seek to make quick profits," she said) and more: the film about Ethereum based on her book The Infinite Machine, the crucial role that DeFi could play in Latin America and even about her curious meeting with Pope Francis.

This month in LatAm, new unicorns have emerged. The latest to join the ranks was Nowports, the logistics startup from Monterrey, Mexico. The company reached a valuation of over US$1,000 as part of a Series C led by SoftBank Latin American Fund.

Speaking of unicorns, Chilean insurtech Betterfly continues to grow and has just landed in Mexico to offer its original insurance and wellness model for company employees.  "There is no other company doing what we are doing," said its country manager for Mexico in this interview.

Platanus Ventures, a sort of Y Combinator of LatAm, gave good news in recent days by announcing that its first batch of startups to support this 2022 was multiplied by three: they used to support five startups, but this time, after receiving many applications, that number rose to 15. You can learn about all of them in this article.

Book recommendations are one of our new sections. This time Cristóbal Griffero, from Chilean fintech Fintoc, wrote about "No Rules Rules," the book about Netflix's unique internal culture with disruptive ideas such as not controlling your employees' vacation days.
