Hello Bartlett Barracuda Swim Families!

Please read through this entire email as it covers a wide variety of topics and pertinent information you will need as the season begins:

1) SEASON KICK OFF PIZZA PARTY

Please join us on Wednesday, May 25^th in the Oak Room of the Bartlett Park District. There will be a season kick off pizza party with bag-tag making, and the opportunity to meet the coaches and ask questions to board members regarding the season.

We’re excited to see you – and don’t forget to take the upcoming survey on ‘Remind’ to let us know your family’s headcount!

HAND ME DOWN EXCHANGE

RETURNING SWIM FAMILIES...HAVE ANY HAND ME DOWNS?

PLEASE BRING ANY GENTLY USED ‘CUDA GEAR YOUR SWIMMER HAS OUTGROWN TO THE PIZZA PARTY ON WEDNESDAY!

New this year is a clothing swap and/or hand me down table. We will have a table available to browse collected items and for anyone who is interested in, it will be first-come, first-serve.

2) PRACTICE TIMES
As voted on by the majority of our parents, the practice schedule this Summer can be found at: https://cudas.swimtopia.com/2021-season

For easy-reference, it is:
MONDAY-TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY

13 and Older: 6:30AM-8:15AM
11-12: 7:30 AM-9:00AM
9-10: 7:45AM-9:00AM
8 and Under: 8:00AM-9:00AM

THURSDAY

13-18: 7:30AM-9:00AM
12 and Under: 8:00AM-9:00AM

3) APPAREL ORDER
We are awaiting word from our vendor as to when the ‘Cuda gear will be ready to distribute. As soon as we know, we will send out communication with pick-up instructions and/or distribution.

At this time, there is a possibility of a second order. However, with supply chain issues causing a bottleneck throughout the country, our best hope is that additional sizes of all apparel were ordered and that we will be able to release those remaining items to you for purchase.

If your swimmer did not order a new suit or cap, please feel free to wear any navy or royal blue solid-colored suit to the meets. As an FYI for our new families, any suit can be worn to practice; it does not have to be Barracuda-specific.

As a reminder to our current swim families – PLEASE BRING ANY GENTLY USED ‘CUDA GEAR TO THE PIZZA PARTY ON WEDNESDAY! We will have a table available to browse collected items and for anyone who is interested in utilizing, it will be first-come, first-serve.

6)  PARENT HANDBOOK
If you haven’t done so already, please read through the Parent Handbook which includes a preseason checklist, a summary of logistical information about the season, a scoring breakdown, and other relevant meet info. You can access the handbook here:

7) SWIMTOPIA
This app-based communications platform is one of the Barracudas primary means of communication during the season. The main functions of it are to allow swimmers to declare their availability for upcoming meets (crucial for coaches when making event line-ups), collect family dues, and provide a space for parents to fulfill their volunteer sessions at the different meets.

Please follow these steps to ensure you are set-up for the season!

1) Download the SwimTopia app or download on your lap/desktop

2) Visit the Barracuda website at www.bartlettbararacudas.org - this will direct you to Swimtopia

3) Register ANY family members (parents, grandparents) who will be volunteering at the meets and be sure to fill in their email addresses. This ensures that they will receive communication relevant to their sessions. This registration is free and separate from the swim team registration that was done at the Bartlett Park District during initial swimmer registration.

ALL families (both new and returning) will need to register. (As an aside, many of you have had trouble accessing the site and brought this to our attention at the Parent Meeting. We have it up and running now. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!

4) Register your swimmer/swimmers for the season. This will allow you to declare your child/children for meets and sign-up for volunteer roles per meets (more on that below).

5) Submit payment of $20.00 PER FAMILY as a team donation that will go towards concession stand purchases and team events. You can do so directly from SwimTopia with the ‘Stripe’ payment method. You will not be charged per swimmer, just $20/family.

6) NOTE: Although you will register both your family volunteer names and your swimmer at this time, the volunteer slots are not ready for parent sign-ups. We are hoping that in the next week you will be able to click on the meets of your choice and sign up for your allotted requirements and will communicate further when that portion is available.
