Special City Council Meeting: Parklets

On Monday, May 23, at 5:00 pm the Larkspur City Council will hold a special meeting regarding the City's parklet policy. At the meeting the Council will consider whether to (1) Extend the temporary parklet termination date, currently set at June 30, 2022 (2) Work towards a city parklet policy for permanent parklets. This is a hybrid meeting that will be held in Council Chambers and over Zoom. Members of the community who would like to comment are encouraged to speak at the meeting or send written comments to City Clerk Alison Foulis at: cityclerk@cityoflarkspur.org. Larkspur Housing Element Steering Committee

The City of Larkspur is updating its Housing Element. As part of the 2023-2031 6th Cycle Housing Element Update, Larkspur is required by State law to plan for 979 new housing units across all income levels. The next meeing of the Housing Element Steering Committee is Wedensday, May 25, 2022 at 6:00 pm. Agenda can be accessed here.

A virtual interactive tool allows community members to let the City know where they would like new housing sites located. The tool will be available and open to the public.. Information will be used to help determine where to include new sites in the Housing Element. Link available here.

Planning Commission Seeking New Members

Larkspur Planning Commission members are appointed by the City Council to a four-year term and must be available to attend semi-monthly meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. Only residents of the City of Larkspur in Larkspur and Greenbrae are eligible for appointment as a commissioner.

The Larkspur Planning Commission is designated as the official planning agency of the City and is governed by the regulations in Title 7 of the Government Code, “Planning and Land Use,” and the Larkspur Municipal Code.

If you are interested in applying, please complete the Board and Commission Application and return it to the City Clerk at cityclerk@cityoflarkspur.org or by mail to 400 Magnolia Ave., Larkspur, CA  94939.  

Applications are due Wednesday, May 25, 2022, and interviews with the City Council will be scheduled for June 1, 2022.

Natural Disaster Preparedness Survey

Natural disasters have become a fact of everyday life, and Larkspur is working to be better prepared. We know that the most likely disasters for our community are earthquakes, fires, flooding and potential long-term power outages either as a direct consequence or a preventative measure. Super Cool Summer School

Super Cool Summer School is back again for another exciting year! Like many organizations, we are still recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and will be bringing back Summer School in a modified capacity. Similar to last year, participanting families will sign up for a pairing of classes which will run from 9:00 am-12:00 pm (one class from 9-10:30 am and one from 10:30 am-12:00 pm). Summer School runs from June 13-June 24 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at Hall Middle School & Piper Park. Registration information here.
