Quote of the Week:

“Rich people believe ‘You can have your cake and eat it too.’

Middle-class people believe ‘Cake is too rich, so I’ll only have a little piece.’

Poor people don’t believe they deserve cake, so they order a doughnut, focus on the hole, and wonder why they have ‘nothing’.”

~T. Harv Eker

Song of the Week:

Zach Bryan - Happy Instead

Story of the Week:

“Have Your Cake and Eat it Too”

This comes from the oldest known proverb, “you can’t have your cake and eat it too” in a letter from Thomas Duke of Norfolk to Tomas Cromwell in 1538.  This illustrates a well-known piece of wisdom or a universal truth.  It basically means you must make a choice; you can’t have it both ways.

But for the fun of it, I’m debunking this – not in the literal sense, but in the sense that I believe we can have it all and do it all.  We don’t have to choose between things we love to do.  By doing this, it makes us more relatable, interesting, and unique, thus setting us apart from others… in the general sense, or others we are in competition with (personally or professionally).  When you incorporate all that you are and all that you love, you reach the highest level of authenticity – then there is no competition, or at least there’s less of it, because no one is YOU, and YOU are no one else.

The biggest reward to living this way is that you can live a fuller, happier, and more creative life.

Since becoming a country artist, I have found that my artistry is just one piece of me.  What truly makes me unique as an artist, is everything else I am, and everything else I have to offer.

When I started my career, I was getting advice to hone in on my music, only post about my music… but I have found I’ve become more successful and happier when I show all of who I am.  I’m not just a singular thing – I am a singer, but I’m also a writer, a painter, a tennis player, a model, a daughter, a sister, content creator, and a clothing designer.  Obviously, my job is a country artist, but by incorporating all my passions and roles, it actually makes me stand out.  I believe this is true for all of us, no matter what your career is, or even if you’re no longer working, you must live intentionally and put the things you love into your life.  What I’m saying is, you can have your cake and eat it too, and I am going to show you how to do that.

Several months ago, I was contacted by an online educational company called, Daisie (written up in many publications like, HYPERBEAST, COMPLEX, VANITY FAIR, FORBES, SKY NEWS, and VOGUE.)

They said they had been following my socials and really liked how multifaceted and creative I was and because of that, they offered me a job as one of their instructors.  After checking them out and being really impressed, I accepted.  (So now I can add, I’m a teacher to my list, ha!)  I can teach on anything I’d like as long as it’s creative.  I have a list a mile long, but for my first class, I want to teach others how to tap into everything they love, and how to incorporate those pieces into their lives and careers.

This is the ad for my class:

Have your cake and eat it too! Join multifaceted creator Caitlin as she shows you how to broaden your audience through uncovering the multidimensional you. Each participant will create their own “wheel of life” and receive tips on how to incorporate more of these facets into their social media. By doing this you will minimize the feeling of competition in your industry.
