Friends,

We would like to congratulate all our Grimsley Class of 2022 graduates as their festivities commence this week! They haven’t had an easy go of it with a global pandemic occurring in the middle of their high school experience. We are proud of their perseverance and wish them luck wherever their future plans take them!

Lastly, as I come to the end of my term as PTSA President I would like to thank everyone for their participation and support. Just as this hasn’t been an easy past two years for our students I know it hasn’t been as easy time for families either.  I continue to be humbled by our communities willingness to volunteer and serve even in the midst of personal difficulties created by the pandemic.

I would like to especially express my gratitude to the executive board members I have worked with: Michele Alvarino, Palmer McIntyre, Jacqueline Young, Shannon Roley and Laura Wallace.  They have made everything possible!

Best wishes for a safe and fun summer!

With much love,

Amanda Buchanan

Project Graduation
Grimsley PTSA has a 30 year tradition of hosting a fun, drug and alcohol free event the night of graduation for our seniors so they can enjoy one final night with friends on campus.  We are gearing up for this year's event with fun plans for a carnival style event, rain or shine on June 3rd.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $6,500 to help fund this fantastic and free event for our seniors!

May 18, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians:

This has been a different year.  Thank you for what you have done to ensure that we have continued to excel despite the COVID situation at Grimsley. Graduation is an exciting and happy time for all of us. This is a big day, and our students deserve a graduation ceremony they may take pride in now and throughout their lives.

We are asking all graduates, family members and guests to please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Show respect for all graduates
  2. Applaud politely for each graduate
  3. Limit cheers so every graduate’s name is heard by all attendees
  4. Remain seated during the entire ceremony
  5. Remain quiet in keeping with the solemnity of the occasion

For safety and security reasons, and to keep the focus on our graduates, guests will not be allowed to move around and must wear a face covering for the entire ceremony.  You may not bring the following items into the graduation:

  • Duffel bags
  • Fanny packs
  • Backpacks
  • Balloons
  • Air horns
  • Noisemakers

GCS, in cooperation with local law enforcement, will provide security at all GCS graduations. Our goal is to allow our students and their families to enjoy this special day without distractions. For this reason, we reserve the right to search all bags, including camera bags, as you enter the facility.

Unfortunately, you must remain in your seats while graduate names are being called.  Pictures may be taken with your graduate at the end of the ceremony as you are departing.  We ask that you follow the directions of our ushers and exit the venue as soon as possible as another graduation will be forthcoming.

Please keep in mind that individuals who interrupt the proceedings or do not follow guidelines may be asked by the appropriate officials to leave the facility.

Thank you for your support over the years and thank you for allowing us to serve you and your family. We know our graduates will leave GCS prepared to succeed in higher education or in the career of their choice.

Sincerely,

Mr. Ged O’Donnell, Principal
