With the whole sailing community "chomping at the bit" to get back into open and competitive sailing with their friends, family and adversaries, the Lark Class are extremely proud to announce and preview the 2022 Musto National Championships, taking place at Pentewan between 1st & 4th June 2022. 

A full 9-race + crews race programme is scheduled, and a whole host of family friendly events, both on & off the water, taking place after racing on each day.

The key attractions of taking part in this year's event are:

  • It's still not too late to join the amazing event . Enter Now to join the fun
  • A full race programme over 4 days in glorious corner of Cornwall, with morning races so the remainder of each day can be spent with family & friends enjoying the Cornish countryside.
  • Pentewan Sands Sailing Club have an esteemed track record of hosting championships both on the water and on the beach!
  • Entrants span the great and good of Lark sailing, both past and present.  Check out the Runners and Riders article.
  • The event is being generously sponsored by MUSTO, who are providing masses of prizes and goodies being handed out throughout the week.  In addition, 20% off purchases at the local Musto store for Lark participants.
  • There will be a professional photographer, out on the water, for all 4 days.  Check out robertdeaves.uk
  • The class have invested in state-of-the-art video equipment in readiness for this event.  So races can be watched from the 360 Burgee-Cam, amongst other GoPros and drones surveying the race track. 
The event promises to be one of the most eagerly-awaited championships for the long time.  If your think you can make it down to Cornwall, do get in contact to see if the Lark class can help get yourselves onto the water.

You have made a very good decision!  With only a week to go before we pack up our Larks and hit the road for the journey to Cornwall, here are some last minute essentials.

Please check all the items on the below list before setting off for the event:

  • Read the Instructions for Competitors and Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions

  • Watch the YouTube briefing by Mike Ward, the PRO for the champs.
    There will be a Q&A session at the club with the race officer at 6pm on Tuesday.

  • Join the #Pentewan22 WhatsApp Group. This will be the essential comms tool leading up to & during the event, including socials, race announcements & general chat.

  • All of the above information is on the Online Event Notice Board. Keep up to date at https://nationals.larkclass.org/

  • Ensure your sails are measured and have the correct numbers displayed, your buoyancy is compliant and correctors are in place.
    Contact Nigel Hufton for any sail measurement needs.

  • Download a copy of the measurement declaration.
    The completed forms are to be returned to the post box clearly marked by the Club's Notice Board by 6pm on Tuesday 31 May. There will be spot-checks during the event!

  • Get ready to add new sponsorship stickers to your Lark from our headline sponsor Musto, by removing any old sponsorship stickers. 

  • Keep our oceans clean by bringing re-usable bottles and containers for drinks and lunch

Ladies and Gentlemen.. We have a winner.

Alice Davies (Helm) & Beetine Harris (Crew) have won the Under 25s Nationals Competition for the use of the Brand New Synergie Lark at the Musto National Championships and free camping pitch. Their entry naming the boat, "Twocan" was chosen by the Judges. 

They both bring with them a wealth of #sailing talent and experience:
  • Alice Davies has recently won the 420 Class Youth Nationals and Spring Championships.
  • Beetine Harris was 2017 Cadet National Champion, RS200 Junior Champion in 2018/ 2019, 420 Ladies National Champion 2018/ 2021 and has represented GBR at the World Sailing Youth Worlds in 2021.
Watch out the top of the fleet. The next generation is coming through. We wish them the best of luck, a fantastic week of racing and look forward to seeing them on the water. Congratulations on winning the competition.
