HOLY RESURRECTION PARISH

Message from Fr. Lukas

Christ is Risen!
Dear Parishioners and Friends of the Parish,

This is the last Sunday when we are singing Christ is Risen. Our parish committees have decided to begin the communication towards you on matters regarding our parish life.

Since I have formed the new committees at the beginning of the new year 2022 and I have waited for the Finance Committee to approve our yearly financial statement for the last year, you can find approved and finalized Financial Statement for year 2021 at the end of the letter.

As a brief reminder, here is a summary of the facts:
  • our collections in 2021 were $166,667 (compared to $150,512 in 2020);
  • our total income in 2021 was $199,767 (compared to $216,667 in 2020; total income in 2020 included catering income and Paycheck Protection Loan from the federal government);
  • our total expenses in 2021 were $150,186 (compared to $166,152 in 2020). The cut in the total expenses achieved in the year 2021 that saw an increase in utilities expenses and almost all expenses in general is a good sign;
  • as a result, Holy Resurrection produced in 2021 a net profit of $49,581.
After new appointments to the Pastoral and Finance Council, we have resumed our work for the benefit of the parish. We will use the platform of newsletters to provide you in the following weeks with necessary communication. In the beginning, Pastoral Council members will break down to you our parish plan. It is build upon our parish mission statement and is broke down to the 4 parts:
  • Education,
  • Prayer,
  • Christian Fellowship,
  • Evangelization.
Then the Finance Council will follow and communicate what we were working on in 2021. Here, I feel that it is important to clarify several things. In my vision of the parish as a working organization, if I were to use the analogy of a human organism, then the Pastoral Council is soul and Finance Council is body of the parish. The Pastoral Council should organize and steer life of the parish whereas it is the task of the Finance Council to provide and keep the necessary resources for our function. Therefore, the Finance Council is working with more measurable data than the Pastoral Council. Members of the Finance Council are discussing and researching the possibilities so we can take data-driven decisions. From the nature of the matters, we don't always have things that are final and can be communicated to the parish. Although the process is lengthy, I hope we have your trust with our results. Our financial statements are not the result of happy coincidence but of the new parish culture where everyone is doing his task.

Please, support both committees with prayers. I want to express my gratitude to our committees. It would be my pleasure to always have something final to communicate to the parish but that’[s not what life is.
Please, follow closely the next few weeks with our emails.

Christ is Risen!
