MESSAGE FROM ALISON, OUR DIRECTOR
Dear Parents

We're into the "final sprint" and last 4 weeks of school. There's so much going on and I appreciate the high spirits and energy from both teachers and students as we push to finish strong.

Congratulations to our Year 13 students for completing their IB exams. It was a very challenging and stressful period for them and we are looking forward to celebrating their accomplishments at our upcoming Graduation ceremony on the 4th of June. Good luck to our Year 12 students who began their mock exams today. We are confident that you will be successful!

Maria Montessori quipped, "play is the child's work" and our little ones are delighted with their new playground. We are so pleased with the most recent Nord Anglia Education (NAE) investment which allows us to create an enjoyable and stimulating environment for our youngest students. Also, the Y12 students had an interesting collaboration session in the playground, reminding us, these teenagers are still kids at heart!

Recruitment for the Academic Year 2022-2023 is underway. We are pleased to have recruited more excellent teachers to join our team.
  • Primary/Middle School Dutch - Barbara Kinds
  • Year 1 - Zoë Zeghers
  • Secondary Music - Vito Fiume
Our primary STUCO's endless energy has catalysed a "Spirit Week" for the week beginning May 30th, and our dynamic PTSA fathers are taking over organising the BBQ on June 10th. More information can be found in the newsletter below.

Enjoy the weekend,
Alison
CLASS OF 2022
Today is the day our Y13 students are writing their last exams which means, their last-day-of-school-ever! All your teachers are confident that you will make wise career and lifestyle choices in your life beyond NAISR. We trust the values and skills you have acquired here will set you up for success. #GoGradSharks!
NEW FOUNDATION STAGE PLAYGROUND
After waiting patiently and watching the construction with great interest through their classroom windows, our youngest learners are thrilled to get out and experience their new playground. For these little ones, there's not a lot better than playing outside in a mud-kitchen, climbing wooden castles, hopping on stepping stones and running through willow tunnels! #FunwithFriends #OutsidePlay #Wellbeing

Here, our director, Mrs. Alison Lipp, is testing the equipment for safety and the "fun factor". #Approved
Y12 UNUSUAL COLLABORATION SPACE
Sometimes working in a new environment can boost productivity, improve the growth mindset, enhance team work and raise morale. Of course, we can't say the same for our IT manager, who was not charmed by this unusual group work. #LaptopInsurance #TeenageBrain #WhatRisk?
PARENTING PRESENTATION 9 JUNE 7PM
THE TEENAGE BRAIN...
Decision-making is a process of weighing Risk, Goals & Rewards. Teenagers weigh these factors differently to adults due to their lessened sensitivity toward loss and heightened impulsivity - thanks to teenage hormones.

The good news is there are clear actions we can take to help them control teenage impulsiveness and make better choices. Speaker: Ms Danielle Mashon.

A WEEK OF CLASS BREAKFASTS
One of the benefits of a small school is the close connections between teachers, students and parents. There’s a unique community at NAISR and we’re so glad the class breakfasts brought us together again! #BuildtheCommunity #NAISR
IB STUDENTS' TOK EXHIBITION
On the morning of May 10th, Y12 students presented their Theory of Knowledge (TOK) exhibition.

The purpose of the Theory of Knowledge Exhibition is to demonstrate how “TOK manifests in the world around us”. The exhibition aims to assess how students can apply Theory of Knowledge concepts to the real world.  Students are assessed on their ability to: Interlinking ideas, justify ideas, use evidence, and identify a clear real-world context.
MESSAGE FROM PATRICIA & PTSA
As the end of the school year draws closer, as well as our amazing volunteers, we have had some invaluable support from local businesses and I wanted to give them a mention here:

For donating food to the April Fool's street fayre:
Deli Pies Coffee & Coffee Co. Link to website
Scallywags in The Hague, Link to website

For their generous donations to the recent collection for the conflict:

Climbing Wall
Last week the PTSA and the school joined forces to bring in a mobile climbing wall to give the children a chance to try something different and challenge themselves.  We were happy to bring something in that the majority of year groups could enjoy and we understand the students rocked it!

The book club also managed to get together in person for the first time and enjoyed the combination of cheese, wine and literature as they discussed positive psychology books.

We still have events coming up to celebrate the end of the school year:
- The high school students are busy planning their graduation prom on Saturday 28th May - please sign up to support with food and drink (please find link below under "Dates for your diary").
- A family BBQ will be taking place after school on Friday 10th June - all welcome.
- An end of year fayre will take place after elementary graduation on Wednesday 15th June.  Please note parents are reminded that they are responsible for their children.  We still need help making (they don't have to be perfect!) and manning the carnival games.  If you'd like an after school/weekend project check out some of these ideas for home made carnival games and let me know if you can provide one for the day:
