ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
SUMMER 2022
YOUR ENTRY COULD BE OUR FACEBOOK AND TWITTER COVER PHOTOS FOR THE SEASON!
It's that time again, folks! We are celebrating over 7 years of allowing SAS astrophotographers to showcase their talent! SAS is continuing our seasonal photo contest for all our members. Each season, the winning entry, determined by votes on Facebook, will be our Facebook and Twitter cover photos for the season. Entries may be of any astronomical object, taken night or day, with any photographic equipment.
Please send your entry, preferably in .jpg format, to contest@seattleastro.org. Valid entries* received by June 16 will be posted on our Facebook page for voting the following day. The winning entry will be the one with the most reactions on Facebook by the first day of summer, June 21. Although the contest is for SAS Members, anyone may vote via Facebook.** Any reaction will be considered one vote.
Please include as much of the following information about your image with your entry:
- Object
- Date taken
- Location imaged
- Telescope
- Mount
- Camera

*One entry per SAS Member in good standing. Entries that are deemed to violate copyright laws may be subject to disqualification. Please try to keep your entry about the same proportion as a Facebook cover photo (851 X 315 pixels). By sending the Seattle Astronomical Society an image, contestants are granting permission to said party to show the image on Facebook for voting purposes, to use it as a cover photo for said party's social media (specifically, Facebook & Twitter) and to display it on its main website, www.seattlastro.org, for announcement-of-winner notifications. The Seattle Astronomical Society agrees not use the contestant's work for any other purpose, without the express written consent of its author.
**Votes, or likes (or any reaction), may be given to one or more entries, and votes/likes may be deselected as well. Voting may continue past the due time of the seasonal solstice or equinox, but only the votes received at that very moment shall count. In the event of a tie, the valid voting period shall continue, and a recount will be conducted at 6 p.m. the following day and, if necessary, will repeat every evening until a winner is selected. Only votes for the original tied entries will count.
