1. Affordable Housing Funding - Council meeting on May 30
This Monday May 30th, Guelph City Council will receive a recommendation from Guelph staff and Wellington County to allocate the remaining balance of our affordable housing reserve, a total of $1,364,050 to the Kindle Communities supportive housing project at 10 Shelldale Crescent.
If this recommendation is approved by Council, it will be the third project Council approves to create permanent supportive housing, which directly helps transition people out of the streets.
Click here for the staff report, and please let me know by Monday at noon if you have any questions, concerns or comments about this recommendation.

4. What's on the agenda for the June 7 Committee of the Whole Meeting
These are the items Council will be receiving on Tuesday June 7th. You can find the entire agenda by clicking here. Please let me know if you're interested or have concerns about any of these agenda items.
- Bird Friendly City designation: City staff will present the community’s bird of choice—the Black-capped Chickadee—to Council and seek approval on its application for Guelph to become a Bird Friendly City. This designation will recognize and celebrate the efforts and actions that City staff and the community are taking to save bird lives and protect biodiversity in Guelph—contributing to a healthy city.
- 2021 Water Supply Master Plan update: City staff will present recommendations for Council’s consideration as part of the master plan update to ensure Guelph’s water supply continues to be safe and reliable. After three years of research, engagement and analysis, staff will also share sustainable municipal water supply options that detail our plan to meet the demands of our city’s growing population.
- 2022 Wastewater Treatment and Biosolids Management Master Plan update: after two years of research, engagement and analysis, City staff will present recommendations as part of the master plan update to ensure the City’s wastewater is managed in a way that’s sustainable and protects our local waterways and environment. The good news here is that Guelph’s Water Resource Recovery Centre is projected to be able to handle Guelph’s growing population through 2051.
- Taxicab rate increase: at the request of our two licensed taxicab companies, City staff are looking for Council direction to amend City of Guelph By-law Number (2018)-20272 (Taxicab/Vehicle for Hire) to reflect an approximate 6.7 per cent increase in taxicab rates, effective July 1, 2022.
If you would like to delegate at this meeting, please do so by sending an email to clerks@guelph.ca no later than Friday June 3rd at 10am.
