Alumni Corner

Student Media Alumnus Calls Superbowl LVI
Student Media alumnus Jorge Andres (right) made history earlier this spring when he called Super Bowl LVI for Telemundo’s “first over-the-air broadcast” of America’s most-watched annual sporting event.

Andres, 37, who graduated from Mason in 2007 with a BA in communication, got his start at WGMU radio before going on to become an award-winning Telemundo Washington and ESPN anchor (SportsCenter, NBA Tonight, and Baseball Tonight).

“It’s a milestone for me, for sure,” said Andres. “But this isn’t just about me, but as much as it is for so many people who believed in me... I’m proof that with hard work, passion, and humility, anything is possible.”
