Be Part of the Celebration Asians in Film

Asian Business Collaborative is proud to announce the New Mexico Asian Film Festival. This inaugural event will showcase AAPI cinema by presenting a wide variety of films made by Asian and Pacific Islander filmmakers and artists and will include an inaugural awards ceremony. This event lifts up AAPI voices and empowers emerging artists to share their experiences, challenge perspectives, and celebrate their heritage and culture. The NM Asian Film Festival will take place during the NM Asian Expo & Marketplace, a two-day event that celebrates and elevates AAPI-owned businesses in New Mexico.

Submissions are now open. Deadline to submit a film for consideration for this year's event is June 15, 2022.

Meet Our Film Festival Director

We are thrilled to have Lava B. Khonsuwon directing our inaugural film festival. Lava is an award winning filmmaker based in New Mexico. She is driven to create films for her community that encourage overcoming challenges and identity journeys. Currently, Lava is creating a documentary about honoring traditional clothing and writing a dramedy about an Asian American Daughter living with her immigrant mother. When not creating films, Lava loves spending time off the grid in a camper van and taking photos.
