RIAL/OAS Workshop on Social Dialogue will take place on July 12-13 in Bogota, Colombia 

Save the date! The RIAL Hemispheric Workshop on Social Dialogue will take place on July 12-13 in Bogota, Colombia, gathering governments, trade unions and business organizations to analyze national social dialogue mechanisms as indispensable tools in policy-making, especially while responding to the pandemic. The Workshop, co-organized with the Ministry of Labor of Colombia, will be hybrid. 
Invitations and further information will be sent in coming days. In the meantime, save the date!

The advancements of the Americas in the eradication of child labor are recognized at the 5th Global Summit
The 5th ILO Global Conference on the Eradication of Child Labor took place on May 15-20. The Conference included the sharing of experiences, analysis of advancements achieved and posing strategies towards the eradication.  The advancement of the Americas in facing child labor, specifically through the ILO Regional Initiative LAC Free of Child Labor and technical cooperation were recognized during the fourth panel on Innovation and Partnerships. The RIAL/OAS is proud to be a part of this history, having undertaken 11 technical cooperation activities among countries to address this issue; three of which were undertaken last year in partnership with the Regional Initiative.

Cooperation activities within the 15th OAS/RIAL Call begin!  
The first cooperation sessions of the activities selected within the 15th OAS/RIAL Call for Bilateral Cooperation took place last week, thus beginning a new chapter on labor cooperation and assistance in the region. The Ministries of Labor of Paraguay and Peru; Argentina and Guatemala; and Colombia and Ecuador exchanged experiences on digital skills training, inspection to identify forced labor, and National Qualifications Frameworks, respectively. In coming days, the other two activities; among Bolivia and Panama on economic empowerment of women, and Argentina and Uruguay on prevention of gender-based violence and harassment at work; will also begin.

ILO warns that recovery goes into reverse
In its most recent study on the effects of the pandemic in the labor market, the ILO warns that the positive trend towards recovery has gone into reverse. This, in part, due to the fact that the various crises of great magnitude that are impacting the world of work, for example, the invasion of Russia to Ukraine, have contributed to increasing inequality and reduce working hours.
