Dear Friends,
Spring is in the air and we couldn't be happier to see signs of life and color!
UPDATES
We just finished our 3rd Annual Training of Trainers with 17 participants, hailing from Flagstaff, AZ; Salamanca, NY; Carbondale, CO; Albuquerque, NM; and Hayward, CA. It was a fruitful training and we were given some great suggestions on how to revise our training manuals, which we were in the process of doing. We hope to have the revised 13th edition ready for the July NACRJ Conference in Chicago. Some of the changes include:
- adding more materials for the elementary educator
- making it more sequential so you don't have to flip back and forth between the front "main section" and the back "handouts"
- making it spiral bound so it's easy to flip the pages
- adding more graphics
- weaving in more culturally responsive elements, and
- creating a hyper-linked version
Anyone who has attended our trainings in the past will have access to it in our Google Drive. Or you can just email us for a copy. Once it's completed, we'll send out an announcement.
We have also created a new training manual for students and parents called "Engaging Students and Families in Restorative Practices: A Workbook for Schools". We hope to have this ready for distribution soon.
At our trainers' retreat in January this year, we decided to create an Expansion Training Manual for Restorative Practices that has more training activities, case studies, and stories. We hope it to be a self-directed workbook or guidebook. We'll let you know when this is ready, too.
Lastly, we are in the final stage of being approved as a vendor for NYC Public Schools, where we hope to work at the district level to focus on implementation science and building long term training capacity within the district, starting with key schools. We hope this work will begin in the Fall, though we held one training already in April. Speaking of New York, we are also working with the Salamanca City School District in a three year plan.

BIG NEWS!
Our Lead Trainer and Principal with Restorative Solutions, Catherine Childs, is moving to Providence, RI, in part to be closer to water. We'll miss her in Colorado but this means that we now have an East Coast Office of Restorative Solutions! She's excited to be closer to her daughter in Brooklyn and our work in the State of New York and beyond.

QUARTERLY ZOOM PRACTITIONER CALLS
It's a wonderful and valuable thing to gather with like-minded practitioners to do some problem solving and idea sharing and so we are going to be holding our second quarterly, free, hour-long Zoom Practitioners call on May 18 at 4pm MST. The format will be a quick check in and a chance to brainstorm on what you are hoping to manifest with all things Restorative for the 2021-2022 school year. Here is the Zoom link for the call: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89551890843. Please email Catherine if you plan to attend so we know how many super practitioners to expect!
Enjoy Spring!
All the best,
Randy Compton Catherine Childs
