Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program!

This is the Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Club. We will be exploring sea creatures and all things oceans this summer!​

The Hillsboro City Library encourages you to read for 20 minutes everyday this summer. Read aloud to your younger siblings or to your parents. Read in your favorite quite spot. Reread your favorite book again. It does not matter how or where you read as long as your are having fun while you do it! So grab a book, get comfortable, and read so you can log 10 hours of reading this summer and earn some awesome prizes!​

We have an amazing line up of Summer Reading performers on the calendar for you to enjoy! We will be hosting storytellers, magicians, a ventriloquist and an interactive drum circle! Watch a live aquarium animal cam or get out in nature! No matter what program you choose to do though, be sure to stop by Hillsboro City Park and check out our StoryWalk!​

The Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Club runs from Thursday, June 9, 2022 to Friday, August 5, 2022! You won't want to miss out on the opportunity to participate in our events. To find out when a particular event is happening, be sure to check the events calendar on the library's website or follow us on social media.​

To complete the 2022 Oceans of Possibilities:

- Log 10 hours of reading in Beanstack.

- Complete all of the virtual activity badges in Beanstack!

- Have Fun!

Tips to read 10 hours over the summer:

-If you read just 20 minutes everyday, you will finish in 30 days. If you read 10 minutes everyday you will finish in 60 days, or just in time for school to start again!

-Audiobooks count too! Download an audiobook from CloudLibrary and turn every car ride into a storytime.

-Visit the Hillsboro City Library and checkout books!

Finished logging ten hours of reading? Stop by the library to have your photo snapped in our photo booth and have a sweet treat to celebrate!

    All events are located in Historic City Hall at 127 East Franklin Street

The Hillsboro City Library is now offering PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video games for check out. Library patrons may check out up to two video games for a period of two weeks. Video games are located in the library’s main lobby.

This new program was made possible by a generous donation from the Friends of Hillsboro City Library. June StoryWalk Stories

During the summer, StoryWalk stories change on a bi-weekly basis.

So grab the family and head to by our 
StoryWalk in Hillsboro City Park to read "The Box Turtle" by Vanessa Roeder and "Sam & Dave Dig a Hole" by Mac Barnett in the month of June. 

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. It is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

Curbside services are still available! To use our curbside service, reserve materials online at hillsboro.biblionix.com or by phone at (254) 582-7385. 

Staff will retrieve your selected items and you will recieve a phone call when they are ready to be picked up.

Call the library when you are outside and a staff member will bring your materials to your vehicle. 
 
Printing Services

If you are coming to the library to use one of our printing services, please consider sending your print job in advance using our mobile PrinterOn app.
