Good evening, Kitchissippi.

Hi Kitchissippi.

City officials provided another media briefing today that you can view here. There are 10s of thousands still without power at this point across the City, and there are some limited continuing outages in our ward. Some of the towns north of Richmond around Windermere are without power while that pole lies across the road. The west side of Denbury and east side of Fraser are out from at least Keenan to Richmond while we wait for a repair to a tree on a wire on Keenan. There is also an isolated outage around Wavell/Keenan/Gainsborough that was also due to a tree. There are a number of homes on Kenilworth that are also out. I know as well of some individual home issues - one on Parkdale and one on Cowley. Hydro is aware of each of these, but I'm sorry to say that there is no timeline to repair those.

Food waste disposal

I know many of you have been waiting on news of a food waste disposal site convenient to our ward. I'm pleased to say that staff have now secured a site at Lincoln Fields shopping centre that should be up and running tomorrow (May 25). Full details of that will be available here when those are available. The City is still asking people to stay off the roads, so please consider combining household trips where possible, and please check with your neighbours who may not have easy access to vehicles or gas.

Financial help

We've also been fielding some inquiries about access to financial help for low-income residents to replace food. My office sought to clarify with the City how that works in light of some conflicting information from 3-1-1. The call centre has been given the correct information.

For residents currently in receipt of OW and ODSP

Residents receiving Ontario Works can contact their Case Worker to request assistance with an emergency benefit that will provide some support for food replacement.

Residents receiving ODSP should contact 3-1-1, ( press 1 for English or 2 for French) and 4 for social services. They will speak to City staff to request assistance with an emergency financial benefit for food replacement.

For residents not in receipt of Social Assistance

Residents can be advised that they can make an application for Emergency Assistance; which can be completed online or over the phone.
•    Go to the online application for emergency assistance
•    Or call 3-1-1, select 1 for English or 2 for French and 4 for Social Services
•    City staff will complete an assessment to see if they qualify

I'll reiterate that if you have specific needs that I might be able to help with, please let me know.
