BWEW HONOREES
The Black Women's Empowerment Weekend is proud to brunch with the best during Sunday's event to honor three Tennessee history makers.

Dr. Adrienne Battle
was unanimously voted in by the Metro Nashville School Board of Education in March 2020 after serving as interim director for nearly a year. Her high competency, respected experience, and demonstrated leadership in handling classroom and administrative needs have positioned her to lead one of the nation's largest school districts. A Nashville native and successful product of its public school system, she has spent the majority of her career working in the school district.

Dr. Battle's eagle-eye vision, proven impact, and award-winning reputation clearly indicate that she is a champion of students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators alike.

Rosetta Miller-Perry is the founder, publisher, and CEO of the Tennessee Tribune, a publication of over 30 years. Her leadership and legacy have rightfully earned her the crown of "Queen Mother of the Black Press". She is a former Civil Rights activist of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. era, served in the United States Navy at the Pentagon, and retired from the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.

Among the things she's seen and experienced during her storied career, she is most proud of the Tennessee Tribune store located in the Nashville International Airport.

Pamela "P. Moses" Moses founded Black Lives Matter Memphis in the spirit of the Civil Rights Movement. The organization's goal is to promote Black unity while eliminating systematic oppression through awareness, education, and activism.

One way it has achieved this is through the Rise Up America #DontTouchMyVote campaign aimed at overcoming legal barriers at the local and state levels which prevent Black people from exercising their right to vote. It is a goal and mission that P. Moses knows personally. In recent months she made headlines due to her own fight against Tennessee's archaic laws and lack of administrative and legislative responsibility related to voter registration.

We salute these women and look forward to celebrating them during the Black Women's Empowerment Weekend.
