LIZA HAMILTON

Pentucket Arts Foundation is excited to continue posting Arts Alerts honoring fine and performing alumni artists by sharing their exemplary work!
The Pentucket alumni artist we are highlighting this month is Liza Hamilton!

Liza Hamilton, from West Newbury, MA, has always been passionate about art. After taking all the art and photography classes at Pentucket High School she went on to graduate from the New Hampshire Institute of Art with a BFA in Illustration in 2009. During her sophomore year at NHIA she was introduced to the art of hand-felting wool; a material that has guided her artistic life and professional employment.

After creating a number of interactive felted murals and sculptures for her Senior Thesis, she began teaching the unique art of Needle Felting Wool at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH and had her creations displayed for a number of years at Exeter Fine Crafts and at the Melrose Arts Festival.

In 2016 Liza began teaching felting at the Honolulu Museum of Art School where she created 'Honu' a lifesize Green Sea Turtle- one of her most ambitious and impressive felted creations to date.

Since then, Liza moved to Oregon and continues to create in wool, earning the alias of 'Wooliza'. Along with felted sculptures Liza has created a few cast bronze sculptures which are currently available as a limited Edition collection.  With a focus on mythology, fantasy, and life-size creations, Liza works everyday as a freelance artist and educator.
