Sons of The American Legion Squadron Documents Post Commanders and members,
I am attaching 3 documents that I am asking you to pass on to your SAL Squadron Commander. One is a letter from The Detachment Commander David Lee explaining the other two attachments, a new SAL Officer Certification form for next years SAL officers and the SAL Consolidated Squadron report which details what your Squadron has done for the past year. Please impress upon your Squadron the importance of filling these forms out as it details what the Squadron and the Detachment of NY have accomplished and it is sent to National HQ and they file a report to Congress detailing what the SAL has done to justify their existence and retain their Tax exempt status. Please have them send these forms back to Charlie@nylegion.org as soon as they are completed. The NY SAL submission rate for CSRs is at 3% the lowest in the nation.

Veterans Peer-to-Peer Program
The purpose of the Veterans Peer-to-Peer Program is to help our veterans resolve their problems by giving them a place to go for that help. To understand how our program works is simply demonstrated and explained in the following illustration. The veteran takes a glass of water (which represents stress) in his/her hand, and while standing up, holds it out straight in front. The longer it’s held, the heavier the stress gets. A veteran peer comes along beside the veteran holding the glass, and seeing the stress, the veteran peer makes the veteran comfortable by helping him/her to sit down in a chair. This also lowers the height of the outstretched arm holding the glass, making it easier for the peer to hold the arm with the glass and reduce the stress. However, there is still stress. Then along comes a clergy who takes the glass of water (stress) away. Thus, the stress is relieved.
