Educator Preparation Program Feedback
DESE’s Center for Instructional Support (CIS) is in the process of revising our Educator Preparation Program Approval Guidelines. From conversations with students, family members, K12 educators, and those in the educator preparation field, we know we share a collective vision for day one readiness that centers explicit anti-racist practices that enable teachers and administrators to nurture and cultivate the academic excellence, cultural and linguistic competence, sociopolitical consciousness, and emotional intelligence of all students. We also recognize that the educator preparation approval process has aspects that need to change to achieve this vision.

This spring CIS is launching a Listening Tour to further define the revisions to the educator preparation approval process. We are reaching out to folks from all parts of the education system to lend their voice as we work to develop effective pipelines for educators from all backgrounds. We recognize that the current approval process has disproportionately excluded the needs, experience, and expertise of some of our most dedicated educators. Your voice matters, and we are working to garner feedback from diverse stakeholders. We need your help to achieve our vision for day one readiness!

Please participate in the listening tour and support our outreach by doing as many of the following as you can:
  • Participate in the survey here by May 31st
  • Forward this email to your local communities/staff. We hope to hear from current and former educators, teacher candidates, school staff, and educator prep faculty and staff.
The Listening Tour will be facilitated by Rivera Consulting Inc., a change management organization versed in accessible community engagement, education policy, and social science research. Please share your feedback candidly and know that the results will not be directly shared with DESE.
