Weed of the month - Siam Weed

The Douglas Shire Biosecurity Working Group is targeting Siam (Chromolaena odorata) this month. 

The Siam weed is considered one of the world’s most invasive weeds. It threatens agricultural production systems and forestry plantations.

Progress on the Mossman - Cooya Cycleway

COUNCIL'S infrastructure teams have worked closely with local contractors in the past few months.
The 2.6-kilometre-long shared cycleway will run from Junction Bridge along Bonnie Doon Road to the Melaleuca Drive intersection at Cooya Beach.

Notice of Temporary Maintenance Closure at the Daintree Ferry - November 2022

The Daintree River Ferry will not operate from 10pm Friday 18 November 
2022
until 5am Tuesday 22 November 2022 to allow for important safety maintenance  work to be completed.

Newell Beach Boat Ramp Officially Open

THE $3.5 million, two-lane boat ramp allows low tide access and provides a central walkway.

It will be very popular with more than 1300 boats registered in Douglas Shire - one for every nine people - and plenty of keen out fishers outside the region.
