How to Invest in Food Value Add Masterclass
This is an incredibly exciting time for WA's food and beverage sector and global demand for food and food value-added business and innovations continues to accelerate. This masterclass event will bring together industry leaders, practitioners and unique SMEs across the sector discussing what it takes to get scale, create and capture new value, reach new markets - domestic and global - while gaining and growing capital investment. Speakers and panel sessions will cover key issues, considerations and best practice for investing in food value add technologies and businesses. This event will also launch the 'Scale' component of this year's Canning Business Mentoring Program, delivered by and in partnership with Triangle Equity Partners, ScaleUp WA and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. Seating is limited so registration is essential!

Value Add Investment Grants (VAIG)

VAIG Round Two is open to food and beverage manufacturers and processors. Businesses can access support through two different funding streams: Capital Investment and Feasibility. Grants are between $30,000 and $100,000. Round Two has up to $7 million in funding available and will close on 7 June 2022.

Invest & Trade WA Mission to India
Invest and Trade WA Mission to India is accepting online Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Invest and Trade Mission to India in July, which aims to strengthen government and industry connections and unlock opportunities for WA businesses looking to enter the Indian market. The mission will include a range of programs and initiatives across Delhi, Mumbai, Vijayawada and Chennai. The EOI will close on Friday 27 May 2022. Note that travel expenses will be at the cost of the delegate.

  • Download the Business Security Checklist
  • Been a victim of crime and have CCTV?  Review the footage and let the Police know if anything relevant has been captured
  • Register your CCTV system with Cam-Map WA, a secured database operated by the Western Australian Police Force containing all voluntarily registered CCTV systems across Western Australia. Knowing where active CCTV systems are in your area will assist WA Police to investigate incidents in order to improve community safety, solve crimes more effectively, or locate missing people sooner.

Entrepreneurs' Programmes
Innovation Connections is a two-tiered programme for small and medium businesses to access knowledge and networks, engage with researchers, and foster innovation. The Innovation Connections Facilitation application can be made at any time. The Innovation Connections Grant is for projects following the Innovation Facilitation Report and applications must be made within 12 months of receiving the Report). Check your eligibility in the Guidelines.
 
The Growth Programme seeks to connect businesses with the capabilities and networks they need to strengthen, grow, innovate, and commercialise products and services in domestic or international markets. Support can either be provided via services and/or grants. Industries and areas of interest include Agriculture, Energy and Renewables, Food and Beverage, Healthcare, Medical, Biotechnology and Nanotechnology, ICT, and Mining.
 
Accelerating Commercialisation is for SMEs, entrepreneurs and researchers seeking to access expert advice and guidance, grants and funding to help get their novel product or service to market. Applicants must receive Commercialisation Guidance before they can apply for a grant. Eligible activities include engaging external professionals to confirm the market opportunity, develop the business model, identify potential partners, develop an IP strategy, raise capital or prepare an Information Memorandum, and more. Be sure to check the Guidelines for complete eligibility.

 Ranger and Community Safety for Businesses
The City’s Ranger and Community Safety team conduct community patrols in clearly marked vehicles, and patrol areas to assist in deterring anti-social and/or criminal behaviour.
Officers can also provide assistance with issues such as stray dogs and cats, parking, abandoned vehicles and litter.

WA Innovator of the Year Awards 2022

It is that time of the year when we acknowledge and reward exceptional innovators in WA who have developed an outstanding emerging innovation, product, technology, or service. Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in December 2022. Applications close on Tuesday 31 May at 11am and must be made via the online application form. Applicants can only enter one application per innovation in one of the Emerging or Growth categories.
