The next World BioEconomy Roundtable will be held on 14 June 2022 from 15:00-17:00 CET! It will be an online event and the theme will be "Corporate Leaders and the Financial World" focusing on the Forest Industry and their role in climate change mitigation.
There will be a prestigious and highly notable set of panellists including:

Meet David Brand, Founder of New Forests in 2005 and a current sitting member of the World BioEconomy Forum's Advisory Board.
He leads the company’s investment programs. He is a member of New Forests’ Board of Directors and is the Chair of the company’s Investment Committees.
David has over 40 years’ experience in forestry investment, forest management, science, and public policy. David is dedicated to innovative, responsible investment strategies in the forest sector and associated assets, including infrastructure, wood processing, and environmental markets.

Meet Derek Nighbour, President and CEO at the Forest Products Association Canada (FPAC) since March 2016. He represents Canada’s forest products industry and the important role it plays in the lives of 230,000 forestry families in over 600 communities across Canada.
Prior to joining FPAC, Derek served for over 7 years as Senior Vice President with Food & Consumer Products of Canada (FCPC). On the global stage, he also represents Canada’s forest products industry on the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ Advisory Committee on Sustainable Forest-based Industries (ACSFI).

Meet Ilkka Hämälä, President & Chief Executive Officer of Metsä Group as of 1 April 2018, though he has worked for Metsä Group since 1988. He is alsp the Chairman of CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries) and the Vice-Chairman of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation.
In addition, Mr. Hämälä is a member of the Delegation of Finland Chamber of Commerce and Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce.

Meet Walter Schalka, Chief Executive Officer of Suzano, a position he has held since January 2013. He has played a strategic role in the evolution of the company's results in recent years, including the combination between Suzano Pulp and Paper and Fibria Celulose, concluded in January 2019.
Nominated as Fastmarkets RISI’s Latin American CEO of the year - pulp and paper industry - in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2018 and 2020, he was elected one of the 15 Best CEOs in Brazil by Forbes in 2018.

In addition to our expert panelists, the event will be moderated by Teresa Presas, Co-founder of the World BioEconomy Forum Board, and hosted by Jukka Kantola and Mark Rushton, two founders of the World BioEconomy Forum!
The event will include short presentations by all of our speakers, followed by a panel discussion and a final Q&A, allowing visitors to send their questions to our excellent speakers.
