SPCR Trainees Event

The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) were pleased to host their Trainees Event on Wednesday 11 May 2022. This was a hybrid event, with delegates attending both in person at Friends House in London and via Zoom. It was a wonderful opportunity for our Trainees and Training Leads to network alongside representatives from the SPCR Board and NIHR Academy.

We would to thank our presenters: from the SPCR, Georgia Richards and Tom Blakeman who gave presentations on 'Project and Time Management' to set the scene for our table discussions; and in the afternoon Zoe Trinder-Widdess, Head of Communications for ARC West, gave a workshop on 'Writing for a Lay Audience'.

Our thanks also go to the organising team and the Trainees Committee for all their hard work and for putting together such a great event. We are already looking forward to the next one in September!

NIHR #BePartOfResearch - Join the #TrialBlazers

The NIHR's TrialBlazer campaign celebrates the thousands of people who take part in, and support trials and studies all over the UK. The campaign takes place from Monday 16 May to Sunday 29 May 2022, and the NIHR will be marking International Clinical Trials Day as part of their celebrations on Friday 20 May. Please do join in with the campaign on social media by using the hashtags #BePartOfResearch and #TrialBlazers, and sharing information about how people can get involved in research. For more information visit the Be Part Of Research website.

PPIE Placement Scheme

The SPCR is launching a pilot scheme for a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) placement opportunity. The scheme will allow SPCR funded PhD students and early career researchers to take on a placement at another member to gain “hands-on” experience and learn from involvement and engagement work happening across the School. Recruitment is currently open for researchers at SPCR members who want to welcome someone into their team to support their PPIE work. More information is available on the SPCR website.
