MAY 2022

TICAH's 2022–2026 STRATEGIC PLAN

Starting in June 2021, the TICAH team dove into an intense and inclusive strategic planning process to vision the next five years of the work. This new plan, which was launched on 8 April 2022 with an online event featuring the animation above, articulates how TICAH’s culture-art-health framework is more important than ever to realise gender justice, climate justice, and holistic health.

Our four program areas will be working through a lens of intersectionality to support our communities to realise justice, equality, and fundamental rights. Please read the short version of the plan by clicking here.

AN AMAZING GIFT TO KICK OFF THE NEW PLAN

Just as the team was finalising the strategic plan in early 2022, we got some exciting news. The wonderful philanthropist, MacKenzie Scott had heard about our work and was making a one-time gift to TICAH. MacKenzie Scott is, of course, an American novelist and philanthropist known for her involvement in Amazon. In May 2019, she signed the Giving Pledge, a charitable-giving campaign in which she undertook to give away most of her wealth to charity over her lifetime.

It is indeed an honour to receive this gift, which is in recognition of TICAH’s strong leadership and work with women and girls on gender equality. This generous gift is a beautiful way to kick off our new strategy and will be used over a period of five years to support the realisation of our new and brave strategies, to continue to learn and to help us innovate the next chapter of our work to improve health and wellness through our culture-art-health framework.

While this gift certainly gives us some relief, it doesn’t end our need to fundraise. We will continue to build strong partnerships with like-minded people like you who have been integral to our work. Thank you for being part of our community and we look forward to continuing to work together.

SNAPSHOTS FROM THE FIELD

Of course, the past several months haven’t just been about strategies and reports and animations. Please enjoy these few pictures from our work in communities that has taken place so far this year:

Our monthly drum circles in town bring communities together to revitalise the city centre.

Our Bodies, Our Choices celebrated International Women’s Day with our community members.

TICAH’s weekly plant talks continue to draw a crowd of people interested in medicinal and indigenous plants for better health, every Thursday at NMK.

Our S.H.I.N.E. program for children affected by HIV continues to support young people through art and play.
