US Ambassador's Lunch
on May 9th, 2022
(pix Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce, James Macsay)

This month AICZ joined together with the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce and the American Women’s Club of Zürich to welcome The Honorable Scott C. Miller, The United States Ambassador to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.  He shared his story of being appointed by President Biden, his aspirations for the role, and talked of the increasing foreign trade between the US and Switzerland. Ambassador Miller also made time to personally greet and speak with participants.  Thanks again to Martin Naville and his team at the AmCham for hosting this very interesting event at the enchanting Zunfthaus zur Meisen, an 18th-century stately guild house and rococo palace in the heart of Zurich. Check out event pictures here.

Date of new Dog Law still to be announced

Since 2010, pooches belonging to breed type I (bigger than 45 cm or heavier than 16 kg), and all dogs that are not considered tiny in stature must undergo mandatory courses. A dog – regardless of size or weight – is only considered to be tiny if both parents can be proven to be tiny.

In 2019 the government council held out the prospect of simplifying and shortening dog training, but to extend it to be mandatory to all dogs whether of tiny or of giant breed.

However, it is still uncertain when it will come into effect. Till that time one still has to do 14 or 20 sessions, depending on Fido’s age.
