News from the Office

Save the Date for SIG/Comm 2022!

June 29, 2022, at the Irondequoit Library. SIG/Comm is our signature event where you can learn all about our SIGs (Special Interest Groups) and the committees that keep RWN running. More info to follow soon!

Our Explore RWN event is now called Explore & More – we have shortened the formal presentation and added a networking component where we SHOW, not just TELL, prospective members what RWN has to offer. After a brief overview of the organization, Explore & More attendees will join our Monthly Free to Members Networking, which is now called Meet & Mingle! Along with the usual networking with members, welcoming prospective members helps all of us widen our networks, share RWN experiences, and learn more about SIGs that may be of interest.

Rochester Women's Network has a Facebook Group just for members! If you aren't a member yet, go here to join.

We have added new email addresses to help members and others reach us more directly, including finance@rwn.org, fundraising@rwn.org, membership@rwn.org, and programs@rwn.org. These emails, in addition to our general rwn@rwn.org, are checked frequently by committee members, so feel free to reach out should you need anything.

Transferable Skills: How to Ientify and Explain Them

Posted on April 27, 2021

Most people in the workforce change roles and even careers several times. It is no longer considered unusual. In fact, you should be prepared, because the unexpected—such as a pandemic—can easily derail your career path and shake your confidence.

Committee / SIG Updates

The Leadership from Within SIG is for members interested in enhancing or expanding their leadership skills and will be structured to allow members to share their leadership experiences and ideas, develop their skills, and bring them to bear on their own lives through a combination of action and reflection.

Monthly gatherings:

  • Allow members to share their leadership experiences and ideas, develop their skills, and bring them to bear on their own lives through a combination of action and reflection.
  • Will explore all aspects of leadership, whether personal or professional development.
  • Are offered in a hybrid model: in-person or virtually using Zoom*.

The best part? You do not have to be in a leadership position or have formal leadership experience! The collaborative model of this SIG will encourage participants to contribute to the group and share responsibility for its development. Join us on the third Friday of each month, 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. to Lead from Within. To sign up, contact either co-chair: Stephanie (steff.webster@gmail.com) or Karen (kschuhle@brockport.edu).

The RWN Marketing Committee is looking for new members. If you want to be a part of helping RWN get its message out, please visit and see if it's the committee for you! They are currently meeting virtually twice a month. The first is on the second Tuesday at 10 am. and the second is on the fourth Wednesday at Noon. Please contact Clarissa Markiewicz at cjimagine79@gmail.com for more information.

The RWN Membership Committee is looking for new members. They are currently meeting on the first Thursday of every month at Noon. Please contact Amy Varel at avarel@boylancode.com for more information.

The Ambassador Committee is searching for more people to help welcome our newest members!  It is a great way to meet new people and also sing the praises of RWN.  Please contact Nancy Woolver at newoolver@ft.newyorklife.com or 585-683-2981 for more information!

Our members are our inspiration at Rochester Women’s Network, so the Programs Committee would love to hear your ideas on what events and programming you’d like to see offered in 2022.

This past year, members enjoyed speed networking sessions, social get-togethers both in-person and online, interactive talks on professional development and business-related issues, and of course our Women Rise conference, which featured discussions with panels of Rochester-area experts.

What would you like to see in 2022? Please email us at programs@rwn.org with ideas for programs and events and any questions you may have.
