Who is eligible to vote for the new Diabetes Council Leadership Group positions?
Any full-time or part-time Diabetes Council Member (State Health Department staff or contractor) who works on diabetes strategies is eligible to vote. This includes diabetes staff, chronic disease director, communications manager, operations manager, epidemiologist, evaluator, etc. Each person gets one vote.
 
The following Leadership Group positions are open for election this year:
  • Chair Elect
  • Professional Development Workgroup Co-Chair
  • Mentoring Workgroup Co-Chair
  • Liaison for Outreach and Member Engagement
  • Liaison to Health Equity Council
  • Liaison for NACDD Professional Development and Learning
 
The Diabetes Council Leadership Group: 
  • Advocates: An avenue for State Health Department staff to collaborate with, and provide recommendations to national, professional, governmental, voluntary agencies and associations including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on matters pertaining to the implementation of diabetes prevention and control efforts by state health departments. 
  • Connects: Network, communicate, collaborate, and problem solve with diabetes and chronic disease colleagues across the country on common issues related to diabetes.
  • Inspires: Strategic direction for state and national public health diabetes prevention and control; and influences skill building, training, and resources provided by NACDD.

Consider joining a Diabetes Council Workgroup

After you cast your vote, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a Diabetes Council workgroup. Participating in a Diabetes Council workgroup is a great way to boost your professional resume, network with peers in other states, and have an impact on the training and development of State Health Department staff nationwide.
