Dear WTR Network Family and Friends,

The Work That Reconnects Network is happy to support research interests in the Work That Reconnects (WTR) and deepen our understanding of how the WTR impacts people's lives. The Work That Reconnects Network would like to share invitations from two independent researchers (Marc and Kelsey) who are a part of the Work That Reconnects community. If you feel called to participate, please learn more about these two separate projects and requests below.

Yours in the Great Turning,
WTR Network Weavers Team

Marc Dectire, Masters Student at the School for Advanced Studies in Social Science in Paris, France:

Summary of Research Project: The Work that Reconnects has spread far and wide in its forty years of existence. People worldwide have applied it to numerous settings and circumstances. Marc's research aims to provide a snapshot of the different ways in which the work is used. Who comes to the WTR, and how? Where do they stand on different issues? How has the WTR impacted their lives? And what sorts of action have they been empowered to take?

Format: To this end, Marc invites you to fill out an anonymous survey, which takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.

How it will be used: The results are collected by Marc Decitre, as part of his masters program in environmental humanities at the School for Advanced Studies in Social Science in Paris, France. He will analyze and share the results with the Work that Reconnects Network, in the form of a short publication and online conversation. Finally, the results and ensuing conversation will provide the material for a chapter of his master's thesis ("An investigation into the history and contemporary relevance of the Work that Reconnects.") and may be published in an academic journal at a later date.

If you find this proposal useful, we invite you to share the survey link

Kelsey Eaton, Independent Researcher from the University of California, Davis:

Summary of Research Project: At a time of unprecedented social and environmental destruction, there is an increasing need for immediate response and action that prioritizes the abolition of harm caused to people of the global majority, the environment, and a commitment to the social and ecological healing of individual and collective trauma. The Work That Reconnects (WTR) attracts people worldwide to reconnect to themselves, their community, and Mother Earth through practices that help transform their despair for the world into active hope. Kelsey is interested in learning more about the potential of the WTR to be a valuable resource for embodied environmental justice.

Embodied environmental justice is a theoretical weaving of ecological consciousness based on the intuitive psycho-spiritual human connection with the natural environment and Paulo Freire's critical consciousness, based on the ability to recognize and analyze systems of inequality and the commitment to take action against these systems.

Format: Kelsey invites present and past WTR members to apply to participate in a one-hour interview; 10-20 people will be selected to participate.

How it will be used: Kelsey Eaton will conduct the interview as part of her master's program in Community Development at the University of California, Davis. She will share her findings with the WTR Network and present them to the Work That Reconnects community. Results will be included in her master's thesis: "A critical analysis of the potential of the Work That Reconnects to be used as a valuable resource for Embodied Environmental Justice."
