In this webinar series, Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) and CDBG Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) grantee staff will learn how upgrading local building codes to reflect resilient construction strategies can position them to better withstand the threats of natural hazards and severe weather events. Training Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Develop a common understanding of what building codes are and why they are important
  • Gain an understanding of the role that resilient building codes play in climate preparedness and community resilience
  • Learn current building code requirements for various hazards (coastal and inland flooding, wildfires, wind events, extreme temperatures, and heat)
  • Become familiar with how building code governance works at the national, state, and local levels

Who Should Attend?

This series is intended for CDBG-DR and CDBG-MIT grantee staff as well as a diverse set of community stakeholders.
