Dear <<First Name>>,

THURSDAY PORTRAIT WORKSHOP SESSIONS

Back in the mid 1970’s, Merri Woolley Bengtson started a Berks Art Alliance tradition that has endured for these almost fifty years - what members then called the Thursday morning portrait workshops.   By the way, Merri turned 94 this spring - Happy Birthday Merri !
In those days, even those artist members not that interested in creating portraits would pop in occasionally to see what was happening.  You had to get there early to get an easel or table or chair - 9:30 am til 12:30 pm with breaks in between and coffee/tea always available, as well as music.   And a different model each week, every person, looks, size, age, made a wonderful model!
Many changes over these many decades, and despite these last two pandemic years, these Thursday sessions are still happening, & these days in Studio Six, second door on left side of our Yocum Institute building, right next to the kiddies playground.   If you’ve never tried doing a portrait, why not stop by and just see what’s taking place - this is free & available to All our members!  If you do participate & sketch or paint, we’ll ask that you chip in & contribute $3 for the model.  Otherwise just come first & see what you think.
Better yet, why not volunteer to be one of our models.  Wear whatever you like to have your portrait created.  It’s painless & fun (we pay you $30 for your time), And often you’ll leave with a free portrait or two from one of our artists there that day!   Also how about asking someone in your family, or a friend to model - anyone who can sit comfortably in a chair for twenty minutes at a time (5 minute, etc breaks in between).   Actually with the breaks, it’s less than 2 1/2 hours of posing.
To set up a modeling appointment, plus any other questions you have,  contact Barbara Post barbarapost@comcast.net  OR  Cindy Hess, who will be coordinating these sessions over the summer months  cindyshess@msn.com.
                                 See you soon!
