DUT HOSTED A SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT SPORTS TOURNAMENT

The Durban University of Technology School Engagement Sports tournaments took place at Hoy Park Baseball & Recreational Sports Complex on last weekend, Saturday, 14 May 2022 and Sunday, 15 May 2022.

The match was between the DUT feeder schools, namely, Sastri College, Overport Secondary School, Bechet High School, Hunt Road Secondary School, Durban Girls High and Sparks Estate Secondary School.

There were several games that were played including boys’ soccer, ladies’ soccer, athletics and netball.

DR KHUMALO OBTAINS HIS PHD IN ENGINEERING AFTER THREE AND A HALF YEARS OF SLEEPLESS NIGHTS

After three and a half years of sleepless nights conducting research, Dr Zephania Philani Khumalo obtained his Degree of Doctor of Engineering. He is the only PhD student who graduated under the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) 2022 Virtual Autumn Graduation last Friday, 13 May 2022.

Dr Khumalo from Manguzi, far north of KwaZulu-Natal is filled with excitement after his hard work and sleepless nights finally paid off.

THE LAUNCH OF THE DUT FOUNDATION, WHICH WILL INVEST IN STUDENTS

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) will be launching a fundraising component called the DUT Foundation, which will invest in students. This black-tie event will be held at the Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel & Convention Centre on Thursday, 26 May 2022, at 18h00.

The DUT Foundation was formally established in November 2017, through a resolution of the DUT Council to promote and support the development and advancement of the activities of DUT as an institution of higher learning. According to Nishie Govender, Manager: Fundraising and Alumni Relations at DUT, the DUT Foundation shall have as its complementary objective; a fund to provide scholarships, bursaries, awards and loans for the promotion of study, research, teaching and all learning which is undertaken by DUT.
