Jubilee bank holiday weekend plans

Thursday 2 – Sunday 5 June is a four-day Bank Holiday to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee. It coincides with the Big Church Day Out, Pentecost and Village Day. Nevertheless, we will be celebrating!

Village Day Saturday 4 June
Many thanks to all those who have offered to man our stall on Village Day.

Jubilee Service 11.15am, Sunday 5 June
Do invite friends and neighbours as we thank God for the Queen's remarkable life of service and the Saviour who has inspired her.

Garden Party Sunday 5 June
The Jubilee weekend is a great opportunity to host a garden party for your friends and neighbours. Ideas and resources for doing that are available here: https://www.theplatinumjubilee.com/celebrate/
We'll be having a garden party in the Vicarage garden, 2.00-4 .00pm on Sunday 5 June for our neighbours and any church family who'd like to come. Unfortunately, we'll have to limit numbers a little, so please sign up on the clipboard on the Bible trolley at the back of church.

Church flowers
Some of the flower team will be arranging the church to mark both the Jubilee and Pentecost which are on the same weekend.

A Royal Occasion

A special Jubilee concert celebrating 400 years of music will be performed at All Saints Church on Saturday 18 June at 7.30pm. The London based ‘Petros Singers’ will be joined by Elin Manahan Thomas (Soprano), David Blackadder (Trumpet) and Luke Bond (Organ) performing music by Handel, Brahms, Elgar and Rutter. For further information, or to make a booking please call the Tiger office on 01444 482405.

The gift of tongues

Could you help give the gift of English to a Ukrainian refugee? The Lindfield community (organised by Emma Tingley) is looking to raise sponsorship for English language lessons. Could you give to support this?
https://www.gofundme.com/f/do-you-speak-my-language

We'd also love to establish an informal, language learning class based at All Saints. Do you have experience at teaching English as a foreign language, and some time to give? If so please contact Hugh Bourne: hugh.bourne@lindfield.info

Ministry trainees

This September we'd love to welcome two ministry trainees to come and learn with us. If you know someone who might be interested in this training opportunity please do share our advert with them.

Team Live Stream

Live streamed services have been a life-line to many throughout Covid and continue to meet a need – each week around 30 users watch live, with many more catching up later. From June, we will no longer have enough operators to continue to broadcast our 11.15am service each week.
As we consider the next steps for live-streaming of Sunday services, I'd be grateful to hear from you if you might be able to help with this ministry. It's much simpler than it sounds, equivalent to operating a TV remote and of course training can be provided.
For more information, please contact Hugh Bourne (hugh.bourne@lindfield.info)

PCC Update

The Parochial Church Council met last Monday evening. As it was our first meeting of the ‘new year’ there was some housekeeping we needed to do: the appointment of Vice-Chair (Katie Spensley); Treasurer (Rob Kingdom); Secretary (Liz Jessop); and the Standing Committee, should an urgent decision need to be made between PCC meetings (Vicar, Churchwardens, Treasurer, plus PCC members, Gordon Scoble and Hilarie Carter). PCC members were encouraged to visit different services and areas of church life to help inform them in their oversight of the church’s ministry.
Reports from various PCC subcommittees were received. The PCC was informed that renovation of the church organ is now pressing and quotations are being sought for the work. The PCC also heard that the appointment process for a Facilities Manager is going well and that All Saints hopes to advertise for Ministry Trainees within the next few days.
The main item on our agenda was an introductory presentation of the Tiger Roof Project by the Tiger Project Team (Roy Marshall, David Izod and Peter Candy). This project, focussed on the Tiger complex, comprises a substantial programme of works: to repair the structure and roof of the Tiger building; to improve the heating and safety of the Tiger hall; and to replace the windows in the Tiger complex. The PCC discussed the project and will return to it at its next meeting in June.

Seasons of Change: Latest interview

The next in our series is an interview with Diane Flint. She reflects on the ways God has changed her and deepened her faith through losing her husband in her early 50s. All testimony is encouraging, so do watch and listen. And think about passing it on to anyone who might find it of comfort. All our seasons of change stories so far can be found on the women's ministry page of the website at: https://allsaintslindfield.org/women
Each piece aims to help us grow in love and understanding of each other as the body of Christ suffers and rejoices together.

MISSION
Mission Partner Focus: Open Doors

This week we concentrate on four countries experiencing severe persecution. This is just a small sample taken from the Open Doors website;  www.opendoorsuk.org

Nigeria
Last year, 4,650 Christians in Nigeria were murdered because of their faith –more than the rest of the world combined.
Please pray f
or the church to stay strong and faithful in praising God and sharing ChristFor Islamic extremists to turn from their evil activities and to Christ

North Korea
Several dozen believers from a secret church have been discovered and killed and some 100 members of their families sent to the country’s notorious labour camps.
Please pray f
or the safe houses and shelters – that all Christian traces will be safely hidden and remain unrevealed, ask God to strengthen and encourage all those involved in this risky ministry

Iran
Two Christian women from Iran have started two-year prison sentences for involvement in house-church activities. Yet, praise God, the church continues to grow.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Iran

Southern Philippines
On a small island in the southern Philippines, 39 young people from Muslim backgrounds went to a discipleship training  event run by Open Doors local partners. Many travelled there by boat in difficult weather conditions. 18  who attended decided to be baptised!
Please pray for these new believers as they begin their walk with Jesus, particularly as it could invite pressure from family and community members.

If anyone would like to a copy of the Open Doors World Watch List booklet we have a few left. Contact ropeholders Ron and Janet Goodenough.
