CONSECRATION WEEKEND!
This weekend our diocesan family rejoices in the Consecration of the twelfth bishop of the Diocese of Springfield, the Very Reverend Brian Burgess. Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will officiate, also spending time with clergy on Friday and joining in a banquet that evening. Eight Emmanuelites are serving in the liturgy, which will take place on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral. RSVPs are closed, but the service will be livestreamed on the Diocesan website:

INQUIRERS CLASS
Over the summer, we're putting together a class that invites your questions about Jesus, the Bible, and things that matter, and is especially appropriate for those who are new(ish) to the Episcopal or Christian worldview and practices, or those who haven't examined their faith in a long time. At the end of the class you may choose whether you would like to be Confirmed or Received when our new Bishop visits (TBA). Speak to Mother Beth to learn more.
UNITED THANK OFFERING
This May we are participating in the United Thank Offering, honoring a practice originally created by Episcopal church women. Through UTO, individuals are encouraged to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for those blessings and make a special offering to benefit national and international mission. UTO Envelopes are available at church, or you may
give via Breeze; please note UTO in the comments.
PENTECOST
The feast of Pentecost on June 5th is one of the seven principal feasts of the church year (can you name them?
Answer here!). It marks the close of the Easter season and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit. Episcopalians all over the country wear red to church that day in honor of the Spirit's fire, so get out that red tie, dress, shoes, hat, or whatever red garb you own and join in the fun. Pentecost Sunday will also be a chance to learn more about how we'll gather over the summer for meals together at Common Table.
HATS OFF TO GRADUATES
If you or a family member is graduating this spring, we would love to include your/their name, degree received, and future plans in the June Messenger; please share them with
Mary in the office!
