West Morris Church's mission is to Awaken Hope with the Transforming Light of Jesus.

Our vision is to partner with God to cultivate flourishing and unleash revival in West Indy.

Join us in this life-transforming, hope-filled Kingdom work!

Tell people who are rich at this time not to become egotistical and not to place their hope on their finances, which are uncertain. Instead, they need to hope in God, who richly provides everything for our enjoyment. Tell them to do good, to be rich in the good things they do, to be generous, and to share with others. When they do these things, they will save a treasure for themselves that is a good foundation for the future. That way they can take hold of what is truly life.
1 Timothy 6.17-19 CEB

Following God's Ways of Generosity

We continue our focus on Following Jesus 101 this week as we consider God's invitation to us be generous. Proverbs challenges us, "Those who give generously receive more, but those who are stingy with what is appropriate will grow needy. Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed." (Prov 11.24-25).

Jesus actually spoke about money more than any other topic besides the Kingdom of God - even more than sin, salvation or forgiveness!  Apparently our perspective and use of money matters significantly to Jesus. So this week we'll explore what God means by generosity, and learn to be like the Corinthian church. I hope you will join us!

Speaking of this weekend, it's going to be busy around West Morris Church between breakfasts, work days, concerts and Spoken Word events! Here's the rundown:

Breakfast & Park Clean-Up
Mark your calendars for a Park Clean-up on May 21. The morning will begin with breakfast at 9 AM at Mann's Grill, and then move to the park to pick up garbage and make it a welcoming, safe place for West Indy families. Everyone is welcome at the breakfast and clean-up. Many hands make light work - so thank you for helping us steward our property well for our community!

Bring your lawn mowers, edgers, weed-eaters, trimmers, rakes, clippers, blowers, gloves - and your muscles, smiles and willing hearts!
The Celebrate Voices Spoken Word event is happening on Sunday, May 22 at 6 PM. Come for some great international food, conversation and spoken word from Manon Voice and Pastor Chadwick Anderson. We'll feast on Indian, Haitian, Ethiopian, Pakistani and Mexican food together, and then feast on some live-giving poetry together.

Reserve your FREE tickets (however many you need!) at westmorrisfm.org/youngadults.

We need a few people who can help set up the New Day Cafe and food for Celebrating Voices. Willing to serve? Be at the church by 4:30 on May 22.
Thank you!

We've heard from several of you that you miss Sunday School on Sunday mornings. Well, there's good and bad news about that.

The good news is that we have Sunday School - you're invited to join in, and those who attend LOVE it! The bad news? You're missing out if you don't join us!

Several other things also happen on Sunday morning at West Morris - check out the morning schedule:

9:30-10:15 AM - throughout the Church

  • Free breakfast & coffee in New Day Cafe (starting about 9:15 so grab it on your way to these other gatherings:)
  • Discovery Bible Study in lower level - study the scripture passage that will be preached on during our main service. Everyone welcome (and the elevator is available for use).
  • New Day Students on 2nd floor - youth in grades 7-12 are invited to an in-depth discipleship gathering in the new youth room on the 2nd floor.
  • Prayer & Anointing in sanctuary - join Geri and Sharon to receive prayer at the back of the sanctuary before the service.
  • Prayer Wall in sanctuary - have you spent time at our prayer walls? Pray for the prayer requests that have been shared on them and post your own.

10:30 AM - Worship in the sanctuary

  • Communion - join us as we celebrate communion together on the first Sunday of each month. We welcome everyone who desires to follow Jesus at the table.
  • Testimonies - where have you seen God at work in the last few weeks? Come ready to share your God-sightings every second Sunday of the month during our service.

CONSTRUCTION AHEAD!

If you've been driving around West Indy lately, you've noticed the construction that has begun along Morris Street. The first phase of the Morris Streetscape plan is upgrading storm drainage - which if you have ever been around the church after a major rainstorm you know just how necessary that is!

Remember this entire project will be about 18 months in length! The next time you drive by these hard workers, give them a friendly smile, thank you, and maybe even something cold to drink! We are thankful for this great work in our community.
