Lee Road Action Plan

In February, during Phase I Understand of the Lee Road Action Plan, hundreds of residents and business owners attended Zoom meetings and completed a survey and polls, sharing a vision for the future of Lee Road. You told us you wanted a street that is vibrant, inviting, welcoming, safe, walkable, connected to nearby neighborhoods and that celebrates the City’s history, diversity, and identity. You also shared your desire to support existing merchants and create diverse new businesses, gathering spaces, and multimodal infrastructure that supports safe travel for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Building on the foundational vision developed in Phase I, we are now embarking on Phase II Shape, where residents, property/business owners, and institutional partners will guide concept development at meetings and through online polls and surveys. The concepts will integrate transportation and land use recommendations that are informed by economic and market analyses and community input.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, June 15, 6:30 pm at The Dealership, 3558 Lee Road, for your chance to weigh in on how you want Lee Road to look in the future. A virtual meeting is also being planned for mid- to late-June. To learn more about the plan and sign up for project email updates, please visit shakeronline.com/leeactionplan.

Shaker Hts. Nutrition

Mitzi and John Long celebrated the grand re-opening of Shaker Hts. Nutrition at 3433 Lee Road on May 7. Now, in addition to Independence Nutrition, Downtown Nutrition and Nuvo Nutrition, they are the proud owners of Shaker Hts. Nutrition in the historic Kingsbury Building at the northeast corner of Lee Road and Van Aken Blvd.

In addition to being experienced business owners, John is retired from the U.S. Postal Service and Mitzi is the Manager of Organizational Development and Learning at University Hospitals. Mitzi, John and their two teenage children have resided in Shaker since 2006 and owning a shop in their own community is really a dream come true. When the opportunity arose for them to purchase the Shaker Heights location, they couldn’t let it pass them by. The Longs have a desire to partner with other Shaker businesses and organizations through events and programs, to offer jobs to young people in the City and to get to know customers who are also their neighbors.

The menu at Shaker Hts. Nutrition goes beyond tasty. Flavors range from Cherry Delight to Fried Oreo, but shakes contain 24 grams of protein, less than 250 calories, 21 essential vitamins and minerals and less than 9 grams of sugar. The teas provide energy, but without the sugar, carbohydrates, high calories or other things that energy drinks may typically contain, including an unwanted "crash" after consuming. The mega teas contain B-vitamins, antioxidants, collagen, caffeine, and aloe vera which supports healthy digestion and better nutrient absorption. Coffee can be made hot or iced, contains 15 grams of protein and less than 2 grams of sugar. And if you're looking for more than a delicious drink, protein-packed waffles are available every Sunday until noon.

Shaker Hts. Nutrition offers a VIP club for customers who want to get the most up to date information on specials, announcements and events. Text SHN to 57838 to join or stop in Monday-Friday 7am-7pm and Saturday-Sunday from 9 am-5pm. Mitzi and John are sure to greet you with a warm welcome and will help you select a shake, coffee or tea that will do your taste buds and your body good!
