Why bother reading this?

We don't want to swamp you with emails which is why we try to collate important information and notices into one E-Bulletin sent out two or three times a month. The E-Bulletin is the noticeboard of the diocese and the primary way in which Church House and Bishop's House can share information, resources, and stories with church leaders in our diocese. If you know a church leader that hasn't signed up yet, send them this link.

Was the Clergy Gathering a success?

Clergy have returned back to their parishes after a four-day conference at the Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire.

The Clergy Gathering 2022 was the first time Bishop Mark Tanner had had the opportunity to draw clergy together in this way following a number of false starts due to the pandemic.

Attendees were blessed with warm spring sunshine which helped people to make the most of the space and enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside.

Stipend increase

Further to a request from Diocesan Synod, Bishops’ Council considered the request for a further increase of 1% to stipends and salaries. We are pleased to say that, due to a better financial position than that anticipated, a further increase of 1% will be made to stipends and salaries with effect from 1 July 2022. This is in addition to the 2% increase applied in April 2022.

There will also be an increase in the National Insurance threshold announced in the Spring Statement which will also be applied in July 2022, resulting in a reduction to the employee national insurance paid of around £30 per month.
