The Sixth Sunday of Easter

e-bulletin
Acts 16:9-15  •  Ps. 67  •  Rev. 21:10, 22-22:5  •  John 5:1-9

Stirring the Waters

This week we will be hearing from the Gospel according to John. We will focus on a story of a man who is healed by Jesus at a pool in Jerusalem, and how Jesus upsets the expectations of his social environment through his ministry of grace.

As we near the end of the Easter season, I am very happly to announce that Ophelia (Phe) Kennedy is preparing to be baptized at St Barnabas on Pentecost Sunday (June 5 at 10am). Please uphold Phe and her family in prayer as they prepare for this significant step of faith.

Deep River Welcome

St. Barnabas is now receiving donations for the Deep River Welcome refugee sponsorship initiative. A goal of $50,000.00 has been set for the project. Once the funds have been raised, the group can begin the process of selecting a family and preparing for them to join us in the Deep River community.

So far, Deep River welcome has raised $23,556 toward this initiative. That is approximately 47% of the $50,000 goal. Way to go folks!

Donations can be made payable to St. Barnabas by cheque, cash, or electronically. Please be sure to mark your donation for "Deep River Welcome".

Sunday School Picnic

We invite all our Sunday School children and their parents to join us at the church on Saturday, June 4 at 12 noon for lots of fun. If June 4 is rainy, we will postpone to Sunday, June 5, same time.

Lunch will be potluck. Please bring finger food to share with everyone. This could be sandwiches, cheese and crackers, veggies and dip, fruit trays, cold pizza, or whatever finger foods your family enjoys. In order to avoid using disposables or church dishes, each family should bring their own plates and cups. The teachers will provide drinks and our traditional Sunday Sundaes (even if it is Saturday)!

For the photo “shoot”, a selection of dress-up clothing will be provided. No need to bring anything special unless you wish to.

Check list:
 Food for potluck
 Dishes
 Lawn chairs
 Hats, sunscreen, bug spray
 Cell phones or cameras to take a family photo
 Masks in case you need to use the washroom
 Smiles and lots of energy!

Looking for PowerPoint People

There is a need to run the PowerPoint slides during the Sunday morning church services. We currently have 3 people committed to this duty but it would be nice to have at least two more. Full training is provided, there is a documented procedure to follow, and the job can be done from your pew.  Please contact Kimberley in the church office if you are interested. Thank you!

Annual Bishop's Gala

The beneficiary of the Bishop's Gala event is the Urban Inuit Elders Program at Inuuqatigiit, a centre for Inuit children, youth and families. More information about the centre can be found HERE

This year’s event will feature some fabulous Inuit talent as well as talent from across our diocese, and fun swag bags!
