Greater New Orleans Foundation Announces Major Grant to Community Lighthouse Project For Solar Power Neighborhood Resiliency Hubs
The award is the Foundation’s largest single grant from its disaster response & restoration fund and will build commercial-scale solar power and back-up battery capacity across the region.
NEW ORLEANS - On Tuesday, May 24, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (Foundation) will announce a major grant to the Community Lighthouse Project, an initiative of Together New Orleans (TNO) and will be the lead investor and partner in getting the project off the ground. The gift is the Foundation’s largest single grant from its Disaster Response and Recovery fund and will create a community-wide network of resilience hubs, each powered by commercial-scale solar systems with back-up battery capacity, that will be able to assess need and provide assistance to surrounding neighborhoods during power outages.
