“The gathering was amazing. So many varied writers from such a range of groups! Each had something interesting to show. I listened to the children’s book authors and was so impressed with their imagination and persistence in getting work published. It was quite a feat pulling all that together
into such a friendly space. Thanks for all your efforts, which keep us writing and believing in our work.” —Sharon Scholl, participating author

BOOK FESTIVAL A BIG SUCCESS
They Came, They Saw, They Read Books!
Community spirit enlivens first annual authors showcase and book festival
Dear friend:
Yes, we had an amazing day last Saturday for our book festival and author showcase for women writers, with more than 200 people gathering, reading, buying, and sharing books! We are so grateful to everyone for coming out, and for all the help and support from the community to put this together. We hope you’ll join us next year.
Oh, did we mention we had our Public ReadAround the next day along with the closing of the OCEANS Exhibition? What a weekend! Let’s all take a pause ...but... join us next week for our Summer Anthology Series, and keep your writing practice strong this summer!
A collection of writers from our classes this spring gathered to share their works in progress Sunday, while artists from the OCEANS Exhibition picked up their works afterwards. Pictured below: ReadAround writers in the living room plus artist Xana Jazmin Juarez and her husband, Andy Jakes, and Kim Hurt. Artists who sold their work included Teresa Cook, Anna Miller, Lori Sweet, Andy Jakes, Kathy McCall, Maria Dugger, and Penny Edwards. Thanks to all our writers, artists, patrons, and supporters!—JW
BOOK FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Book festival featured author Cynthia Barnett and college intern Tyla Chambers had a moment in the SheShed when Tyla read Cynthia an oceans-themed poem she had written. And we had more great moments! See our FB page for more PHOTOS.
