MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:    Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Stephen Wareham, Seminarian, has completed his first of four years at Concordia Seminary, St Louis.  Among the classes he will take is homiletics (preaching).  Having completed his first homiletics class.  Part the required course work in homiletics is preaching two of his sermons in a congregation.  Therefore, please welcome Stephen this Sunday as he brings the Word of God in both worship services. Here is the unique element:  this week “One Chapter A Day” readings were Colossians 3 thru 1 Thessalonians 4.  One of the sermons Stephen wrote for his homiletics class was, is, from the book of Colossians. Only the Lord of the Church can plan such things.  Thank you, Lord, and welcome, Stephen.
Projector Update two contractors have been to our campus this past week.  As of the writing of this note, we have received one bid and anticipate a second before the weekend.  We anticipate two or more contractors on campus this next week.
Thanks for your prayers and patience.

Pastor Carl
Time for some spring cleaning!

We have a large dumpster outside the basement door, which will be there until June 6. This is for cleaning up our campus, especially the basement!!

If you or your group has stuff stored at Faith, please take a look at what you have and throw out what is no longer needed! Just like at home, we all have a tendency to set aside things for "later" and the day when they're needed just doesn't seem to come. Please help us by throwing out what's not needed. We really need to clear space out in the basement, for multiple reasons.

Thanks!

Office Manager

We'll be moving lots of classrooms this summer, rearranging them to make more sense with the floor plan.  Want to come help move boxes and furniture?  Want to help strip and wax floors (never know when that skill may come in handy in the future!)?  Just bored and want to help with whatever? We have some paid positions or you're more than welcome to volunteer, too, so give us a call and we'll try to work with you.  (Got strong teenagers out of school who need something to do?  Teachers off for the summer who just can't get enough of the school environment?)  Call the church office at 770-973-8877 or drop an email to faithlc@faithmarietta.org.
The time is fast upon us to share the love of God with the children that attend our Vacation Bible School. This year we will be "Returning to the value of life". Your prayers and donation are greatly appreciated. We will shortly have our physical donations posted in the Narthex. We are also praying that you would be willing to donate your time as we need people to help this program run smoothly. Please look at the SignUpGenius for complete details. If you can give even just a couple days we would love for you to Share God as we reach His children.
to all our high school graduates!  Job well done!  Join us next Sunday, June 5th, as we celebrate you in our worship services.

Note:  if you have a student graduating from a local high school, please share the exciting news and fill out this form by Tuesday evening, so we can include them.
Just this past week the school year came to an end. Once again, we'll be sending off some of our Called teachers to new ventures with the Lord's blessings - Gerald Brenner, Katie Onnen, and Kari Strehlow. As we ended the 2020-2021 school year, two of our long-standing teachers, Karen Arndt and Patti Schneider, retired without our acknowledgment and thanks.

As we send off Gerald, Katie, and Kari with our blessings and thanks, it seems appropriate that we acknowledge Karen and Patti along with them, thanking them all for their service to our Lord and us at Faith Lutheran. They have all worked tirelessly in their efforts to make Faith Lutheran School a loving and respected educational institution whose mission is to connect children to Jesus. Now is our opportunity to show them our appreciation as a congregation.

I invite you to open up your hearts with me as we gather a thank you offering for Gerald, Katie, Kari, Karen, and Patti. The school ministry board will distribute the gifts based on their years of service.

We will be receiving gifts through this Memorial Day weekend. You may use the envelopes available in the back of the pews to place your gift in the offering plate at church or go online to make an electronic gift and write "thank offering" in the memo line. On Sunday, June 5, you are invited to a celebration from 9:15-9:45 am in the cafeteria.

Thank you for your partnership in our ministry. May the blessings of our Risen Savior, Jesus Christ, be with you always.

Congregational President
Since 1995, Faith Lutheran Church has been a member of the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for Humanity in the northern Atlanta metropolitan region. Faith has participated with other Lutheran churches in the area in the building of over 30 houses for poor families.

The Coalition, including our Faith church members, usually participates in one or two builds per year with about 5 to 10 on-site work days. The house building happens in the cooler fall and winter months.

In order to participate in the house building activities, the Coalition must raise and donate funds towards the construction of the homes. Two fun upcoming fund-raising events are planned:
  1. There will be a wine tasting fundraiser at Deep Roots Wine Market & Tasting Room in Roswell on Sunday June 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
  2. The Coalition’s main fundraising event will be the 18th Annual Taste of Habitat on September 16 from 7 – 9 PM at The Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta. The Taste of Habitat is a night of food, drink, music, silent auction and trivia.
All are invited to these events and please consider coming and supporting us. More information will follow as the events get closer in time.

Ladies of Faith!

LWML has some exciting projects coming up!

First, the District Convention will be held in Tampa, FL Sep. 30th - Oct 2nd, 20222.  This year our "gifts from the heart" will be "Bundles of Hope" for Hope Children's Home in Tampa.

Second, this year celebrates the 80th year of LWML's founding.  So, each month we will be collecting at least 80 of something.  In May we will collect 80 (or more!) items of food for our food pantry.  Each month we'll have a different item to be collected and will let you know what it is - keep an eye out!  Right now we are in need of large bottles of shampoo and body wash for adults!

Third, our LWML has scholarship money for any member of Faith who is attending a Concordia College.  Please write a request and put it in the LWML mailbox.  Awards vary, based on a variety of factors.  But, they can't give it if no one asks for it!
Social Ministry

Everyone deserves a healthy home!

Red Feather partners with American Indian nations to develop sustainable solutions to the housing needs within their communities.

They partner with homeowners, community members and tribal partners to:

Repair and weatherize homes

Demonstrate how housing conditions impact health

Conduct home assessments

Assemble professionals, volunteers and material within the community and outside to address the most urgently needed housing needs

Today there are over 1 million tribal members residing on American Indian reservations, 40% of whom live in homes that do not meet federal standards for “adequate housing”. This compares to just 6% of the rest of the US population living in substandard housing. These conditions can exacerbate and even cause chronic health conditions, making it difficult to be productive at work or school. Not having a healthy home is a root cause of  numerous problems that put a strain on community resources.

The Red Feather Weatherization program provides free, energy saving services to low-moderate income families living on the Hopi and Navajo Reservations who are Arizona Public Service customers in order to reduce their utility bills and improve the comfort and health of their homes.

Services provided under this program included:

Insulation of attic, walls and/or floor

Repair broken windows and doors

Repair damaged drywall

Air sealing including weather stripping and caulking

Installation of water saving devices

LED lighting upgrades

Minor roof repair

HVAC repair or replacement

Energy Efficient appliance swat outs
