Join us for our Tenth Annual Celebration!
I hope you will join me...
YOU are a friend who sustains Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice through your donations, your advocacy, and your volunteerism.

THANK YOU for helping us work toward a more just and equitable society.
Because of you we are lifting the voices of those who are underserved and marginalized. Because of you we are addressing some of the most critical threats to our state including racial justice, immigrant and worker’s rights and voting rights. Because of you we are upholding the dignity of all human beings.

We invite you to join us virtually
at our Annual Celebration,
Revival is Coming
June 9, 2022 at 7 PM.

Revival means "a renewed attention to or interest in something.” As we renew and strengthen our commitment to social and economic issues facing our state, we ask that you join us in this Celebration. Hear updates about the work you make possible, take joy in our successes, and share our vision for the future.

During the Celebration, we will be delighted to honor three champions for justice:

Judge Derek Mosley , Presiding Judge, Milwaukee Municipal Court, for his outstanding work on behalf of at-risk youth in Milwaukee

Rev. Dr. Marcus Allen, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and president of the African American Council of Churches in Madison, for his outstanding leadership in fighting for equity, justice, and civil rights.

Rev. Karen Hagen, retiring pastor at Tippecanoe Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee, an incredible activist on behalf of the hungry and unhoused in Milwaukee, and a tremendous bridge builder between faith communities.

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO HELP
We also want to mark the occasion by raising $15,000. These funds will allow us greater capacity, outreach, and training for our new initiative to address white supremacy and racism confronting school districts in suburban and rural, rich and poor communities throughout Wisconsin.

Will you help us expand our reach, with a gift to our Annual Celebration? Make your gift at https://donorbox.org/wfvj. Your gift made prior to the event will be used to fund a matching gift appeal at the Annual Celebration.

Let us remember how far we have come, look ahead to how much farther we have to go, and pledge to work together to create real change.

Thank you! You are the power behind this work.
In gratitude,

Bonnie

Unlock the Dropboxes Rally - May 25 in Madison
May 25th "Unlock the drop boxes" rally in Madison
Turn out and Advocate!

As a result of a Waukesha Court ruling, Wisconsin voters have new barriers in place, including a ban on unstaffed drop boxes, and prohibition on assisting voters to mail or deliver their absentee ballot.

Please join Souls to the Polls, WFVJ, the Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign and other voting rights activists for a May 25th rally and press event at the Capitol to protest the ban on ballot drop boxes, and the ban on assistance with ballot return.

Let our state Supreme Court know we need them to protect our right to vote!
Extremism in America: Exploring Hate
Our hearts are bleeding for the African American community in Buffalo.  Yet again, another instance where extremist racist and anti-Semitic hatred has led to a horrific act of violence and terror.

As people of faith, committed to love, justice, and compassion, and dedicated to building a society where diversity is celebrated and all people are embraced, we must stand against the ideology that leads to these abominable acts.

We must push back against the media that wants to portray these terrorists as 'lone wolfs', who want to say these are isolated incidents stemming from mental illness.  On the contrary, as evidenced by the Buffalo shooter's 'manifesto', taken in large part from similar manifestos from the 2019 Christchurch shooter and others, these acts are all part and parcel of the same white supremacy movement that is sowing hate and seeking to destroy our country.

PBS has just released a series of five short videos on Exploring Hate: Antisemitism, Racism, and Extremism.

From PBS:
"Extremism in America
Who was paying attention?  Why were so many signs ignored?
In announcing the first national strategy to combat domestic terrorism, the Biden administration warned that domestic extremists now pose the most significant threat to the country. For many, however, this urgent warning was too long in coming. There have been clear signs for decades that far-right extremist beliefs were spreading and that right-wing extremist groups were growing more dangerous. What might have been done to stop the rising threat and growing violence?"
