Recently, my Constituency Assistants, Nick and Tyler, attended the announcement to begin construction on the new Burnaby Hospital! The redevelopment is expected to cost more than $1.3 billion, making it among the province’s largest healthcare investments. I am so excited for Burnaby residents to have access to two new state-of-the-art patient-care towers, a bigger ER & a new cancer treatment centre.
Upgrading the Burnaby Hospital will make a real difference for the people of Burnaby!

Government launches preparedness plan for heat events, a heat alert
Last summer’s unprecedented heat dome tragically resulted in hundreds of fatalities, making it clear that we need to do more like a province to be better prepared. That’s why we’re launching the new BC Heat Alert and Response System which will send alerts directly to people’s phones during extreme heat emergencies.
We’ve also been making fundamental changes in BC’s ambulance service and are bringing in additional measures to bolster BC’s ambulance system to better respond to a significant increase in 9-1-1 calls during emergencies.

Tahltan Central Government, B.C. make history under Declaration Act
Our government has a rich history of partnerships with the Tahltan Nation. By weaving together our respective government processes, we’re demonstrating the promise of reconciliation, supporting predictability & clarity for business, & encouraging investment in BC.
This historic agreement shifts our governments legal decision-making framework to respect First Nations jurisdiction, recognizing the inherent rights of the Tahltan and providing a clear, stable, and sustainable path for everyone to work together.
