The event is free but if attendees are coming to Middle Temple we would really appreciate it if they could register for a free in-person ticket, so we can keep an eye on numbers, here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sanctions-the-implications-for-lawyers-tickets-359523523537

A hybrid event being held on 15th June in person in the Sherrard Rooms at Middle Temple and virtually via Zoom.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022, there was a swift and concerted effort internationally to impose sanctions on Russia and its elite political actors. On 15 June 2022, some 111 days after the invasion, the European Circuit of the Bar will host a panel discussion event on sanctions, considering in particular: what the sanctions are (both officially and unofficially), how they work in practice, and what issues they give rise to.

The event will be chaired by Barbara Dohmann QC, Blackstone Chambers, and joining the panel are: Brian Kennelly QC, Blackstone Chambers and the Bar of Ireland, based in London; Sonsoles Centeno, partner at Pérez-Llorca, based in Madrid and Brussels; Emma Nawaz, managing director of Blackstone solicitors, based in Manchester and André Brunschweiler, partner at Lalive, based in Zürich. The speakers will consider the sanctions imposed by the UK, the EU and other countries, including Switzerland, a “neutral” jurisdiction, famed also for preserving banking secrecy.

Join this free to attend event in person at 17.30 in the Sherrard Rooms, Middle Temple, London or remotely via Zoom.
